Follows established policies and procedures Communicates openly with internal customers and supervisors Provides excellent customer service interfacing well with all levels of staff, management and physicians Applies Cooper core values Other duties as required Overview The Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) is where patients come to recovery from a surgical procedure. PACU is located on the third floor of the Pavilion and Kelemen building. There is also an area on Pavilion 2. Patients here can often be sent home following the procedure or are admitted to the hospital. This is based upon the procedure performed and the necessary recovery needed. If admitted the patient is transferred to the appropriate floor for continued recovery and discharge. The PACU sees infants to geriatrics. Here the patients are closely monitor while they are waking up from the anesthesia they received during the procedure. Depending on the procedure and the orders received from the physicians the patient will be discharged home or admitted to the hospital. Pay Rate: Negotiable Job Description As a member of the interdisciplinary team, the RN Supervisor assumes responsibility and accountability for nursing services delivered to residents. The RN Supervisor provides direct care, administers treatments and medications, organizes, and distributes daily assignments to direct care staff consistent with staff competency and each individual resident's comprehensive resident assessment and plan of care. Supervises direct care staff and makes decisions about resident care needs during shifts concerning scope of clinical competence, consistent with facility policies and procedures. Ensures that “Flow of Care” is followed. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Completes written 24-hour facility report. Gives and listens to verbal shift report making special note of significant changes in condition, admissions, transfers, discharges, initiation or use of physical or chemical restraints, unnecessary use of any drug, incidents, medication errors, loss of resident property or evidence of resident or family dissatisfaction. Reports relevant information to the DON, Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON), and Unit Manager including, interdisciplinary team functioning and communication, regulatory compliance issues, resident risk factors, sadden changes in resident behavior, expressed dissatisfaction by resident or family, refusals of treatment, unexplained injuries, staff behavior (positive and negative), staffing needs, equipment and supply needs, opportunities to revise policies, procedures, improve quality. Assists DON and ADON with preparation for long-term care survey. Attends survey training, interacts with state surveyors as instructed by supervisor. Education/Training/Work Experience: Education: Graduate of accredited school of nursing, BSN preferred Certificate/Licenses: Current, active license as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania or current Multi-State license. Active CPR Certification required Work Experience: Two years prior experience as a Nursing Supervisor required.
