Primary Functions JOB DESCRIPTION The Registered Nurse is a clinically competent practitioner of pediatric, family centered nursing care. The nurse provides safe nursing care to the pediatric primary care patients with minimal guidance and bases practice on identified principles and standards of care. Triages patient’s calls utilizing Barton Schmidt pediatric protocols, national teleheath standards and clinical advice from the clinical provider. Assists the clinical provider with in office procedures within the scope of the nurse’s license. Performs phlebotomy to obtain blood specimens and back office laboratory tests. Respects dignity and confidentiality of Operating room patients. Uses resources and references for reviewing policies and procedures, medications, and clinical information. Prioritizes and organizes work effectively within assigned shift. Assesses the Surgical patient, plans and initiates care and evaluates the effectiveness of interventions. Performs clinical care in the preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative phases of the patient’s surgical experience. Demonstrates competency to perform both scrub and circulating role in assigned surgical procedures. Utilizes proper body mechanics when moving patients, equipment or lifting trays. Education Training and Experience Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required. Two years OR experience is preferred, however training and specialty specific education programs are provided during orientation and must be successfully completed as scheduled. Perioperative credit course is required for anyone with no OR experience. Basic computer skills: keyboard, mouse use. Ability to complete data entry on clinical documentation screens. Ability to use email and internet. Ability to successfully complete on the job training for CCH computer programs. Ability to practice critical thinking and organizational skills . Ability to understand English. Licensure/Certification Current Pennsylvania RN License. CPR certification required. Certification in clinical specialty (CNOR) is preferred.
