Job Summary We are seeking a full-time, 37.5-hour Medical Assistant to join our Express Care team! Express Care, formally known as Urgent Care, offers timely treatment for non-emergency conditions. We care for adults and children ages 3 and up, addressing a wide range of issues such as respiratory illnesses, infections, minor injuries, rashes, and stomach problems. Because patients often visit when they’re feeling unwell, our team prioritizes compassion and emotional support alongside quality medical care. The schedule consists of working 3, 12.5-hour shifts per week, including every other weekend (both Saturday and Sunday). Since Express Care is a 7-day-per-week operation that delivers care during the day, evening, weekends, and holidays, the schedule for this role will require 2 on-call shifts per 4-week scheduling period, weekend, holiday coverage and the flexibility to work overtime as needed. The primary location for this role is 137 Stuart Street in Boston. We do our best to keep all employees at their assigned centers; however, for on-call shifts, employees must be able to commute to any of our locations, including Brookline, Newton, Lynn, Natick, Westwood, and Woburn. You may also be asked to report to any of these centers during orientation (for training/precepting purposes) or during times of staffing shortages or other extenuating circumstances (for cross-coverage purposes). There is free parking at each of our locations! Summary The role supports healthcare teams by assisting with both clinical and non-clinical patient services under the direction of healthcare providers. Key responsibilities include taking vital signs, documenting patient information, scheduling appointments, and managing patient flow. This role involves direct interaction with patients to ensure their comfort and address concerns, as well as collaboration with physicians, nurse practitioners, and nursing staff to facilitate efficient care. Does this position require Patient Care? Yes Essential Functions: -Assists junior Medical Assistants with day-to-day questions and responsibilities and helps facilitate their learning by participating in onboarding training. -Show patients to examination rooms, prepare necessary equipment for healthcare providers, and interview patients to obtain medical information, measure their vital signs, weight, and height, and record information in the patient's medical record. -Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, and physician instructions to patients, ordering and organizing educational materials to reinforce patient education. -Perform general office duties, such as answering phones, taking dictation, and completing insurance forms, while acting as a liaison with other departments and advocating for patients with a positive customer service approach. -Collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log them, and prepare them for testing; perform phlebotomy if competence is demonstrated. -Maintains inventory of immunizations and check expiration dates. -Provides immunizations (as applicable) which requires certification or 3 years of experience administering a vaccine and supervision of a provider. -Responsible for improving appropriate departmental quality initiatives, such as two patient identifiers and hand hygiene. We're looking for a compassionate and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Special Care Department. Reporting to the Nursing Manager, you'll use the full nursing process assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to deliver safe, high-quality care to patients and their families. This is more than a role; it's a chance to be the steady hand, the calm voice, and the advocate patients need most. What You'll Do Deliver safe, evidence-based care tailored to patients of all ages in the Special Care Unit. Create, implement, and adjust individualized plans of care for patients and their families. Supervise, mentor, and delegate responsibilities to support staff, ensuring excellent team-based care. Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary partners to achieve the best outcomes. Educate patients and families, empowering them to understand and participate in their care. Document care plans and patient progress clearly and accurately. Stay current with continuing education, safety protocols, and professional competencies. Support staff development through preceptorship and mentoring. Actively contribute to unit and hospital projects focused on improving patient care. What You Bring Graduate of an accredited nursing program. Current Massachusetts RN license. BLS certification required. ACLS certification required within 90 days of hire for experienced RNs; within 6 months for new grads. Medical/Surgical and ICU/CCU experience preferred. Strong clinical judgment, assessment, and critical thinking skills. Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills. Comfort with computers and a commitment to patient confidentiality.
