Job Summary POSITION IS BONUS ELIGIBLE Responsible for planning and providing nursing care to patients according to AORN Standards of Nursing Practice and Hospital policies and procedures. Duties & Responsibilities Utilize the nursing process to implement goal-directed nursing care for a defined group of patients. Monitor medical condition of assigned patients at all times and report to Nursing Supervisor and Physician or designee any patient a=care problems, changes in condition or unexpected occurrences. Assess patient’s healthcare status based upon physical examination, related reports and records and consultation with appropriate personnel. Identify priorities and provide immediate intervention on admission based on intraoperative report and physical assessment. Educate patients/family regarding condition, treatment, discharge/transfer planning and follow up examinations if needed. Seek feedback from patients/family to evaluate understanding and document. Perform a variety of nursing skills in compliance with physician orders and established Hospital policies and procedures. Communicate with physicians and other departments to consult on patient status and to ensure continuity of care. Maintain patient’s medical records in an orderly manner and document all care provided and significant information. , legibly, accurately and completely. Respond to cases of cardiopulmonary arrest, fire, disaster or other emergencies in accordance with established procedures. Assist in the orientation of new employees. Provide direct patient care, including examination and treatment under an approved protocol. Evaluate outcomes and adjust nursing care processes as needed to ensure optimal patient care. Assume charge nurse responsibilities when necessary. Assume responsibility for own professional development, setting goals and striving to achieve them through available resources, such as attending seminars, in-services and/or reading journals. Performs all other related duties as assigned. Participate in quality assurance activities. Document issues and communicate/consult with the Nurse Manager Requirements Graduation from an accredited nursing program and a minimum of three years job-related experience or equivalent is required. RI State Licensure is also required. Experience must include one year critical care nursing, PACU experience preferred. BLS and ACLS required. Participates in the onboarding of new nurses for medication administration. At end of shift communicate to incoming LPN pertinent data regarding patient activity and conducts medication count. Job Description Summary The Intensive Care Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant will work collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team that provides comprehensive care to critically ill patients. This position will work under the clinical supervision of a physician Intensivist, within the guidelines of nursing process and Advanced Practice Provider protocols as outlined in Patient Care Guidelines for Advanced Practice Provider. Evaluate and treat mostly ESI Level 2 and 3 patients in the Sturdy Memorial Hospital Emergency Department under the supervision of an attending emergency physician Utilize therapeutic means, laboratory data, and radiographic studies Provide direct patient care to our communities in a well-established community hospital Patient-centric mindset to provide the highest quality service and patient care Work cross-functionally with specialty consultants as needed Required Qualifications and Skills: PA or FNP license and at least 2 years of experience practicing as a PA or FNP in a hospital Emergency Department managing adult and pediatric patients ESI levels 2, 3, 4, and 5 adult and pediatric patients Closed reduction and splinting of fractures, repairs of simple lacerations, suture removal, nail trephination, management of bite wounds, incision and drainage of uncomplicated superficial abscesses, assessment and treatment of 1st and wound degree burns, removal of foreign bodies of nose and ear, including impacted cerumen, removal of superficial corneal and conjunctival and subcutaneous foreign bodies, nasal packing and cauterization and infiltration of local and digital anesthesia Excellent interpersonal communication skills, ability to interact effectively with adult and pediatric patients and with clinical, nursing, and physician staff, attentiveness to patient flow in the Emergency Department, ability to multi-task, handle interruptions and work effectively in a fast-paced environment Excellent command of verbal and written English Excellent operation of clinical equipment Proficiency in technology usage Preferred Qualifications and Skills: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a hospital-based emergency department Experience working with an Electronic Medical Record Experience utilizing a voice dictation system Comprehensive Benefits: Guaranteed base salary Professional liability insurance Competitive PTO and CME policy Reimbursement stipend for CME expenses, memberships and dues, licensure and DEA fees Retirement plans including pension plan and 403B plan with employer match Pet health insurance Free parking Medical and dependent care reimbursement accounts (FSA) Long-term disability coverage Life insurance Identity theft protection Reports to: Chief, Emergency Services or Designee Manages: N/A - Salary Range: $118,292.77-$185,597.27 - Salary Range Details The pay range displayed on each job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires.
