JOB SUMMARY Responsible to plan, organize, develop, direct and delegate (as appropriate) the overall operation of the Nursing Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations, and facility policies. The objective is to ensure the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times. QUALIFICATIONS Must possess a current, unencumbered license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois and/or Wisconsin. Minimum of one (1) year nursing service administration experience. Must possess current CPR certificate or become certified within two weeks of employment. Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures. Must be able to read, write and speak the English language in an understandable manner. Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action. Identify problems, develop, and implement solutions with the assistance of the Administration. Develops and implements a nursing/rehab/restorative philosophy that promotes quality nursing, rehab, restorative care for each resident. Assure adequate staff on all shifts. Audits charts and EHR to ensure daily documentation is done. Assure laboratory and x-ray reports are received and filed for all tests completed. Audits transfers/discharge information to assure accuracy and completeness. Audits charts for deficiencies. IDT-through regularly scheduled chart audits. Assist in developing a written plan of care for each customer that identifies the problems/needs of the customer. Attends and actively participates in resident care plan conference when indicated. Attend Customer and or Family Council meetings when invited. Report all concerns, complaints made by the resident or their family to the Administrator. Recruit, interview, and select the Ladies and Gentlemen of Alden with the approval of the Administrator. Schedule department work hours, personnel, work assignments, etc., to expedite work. Ensure a sufficient number of Ladies and Gentlemen of Alden are available to meet the needs of our customers. Counsel/discipline as requested or as necessary. Complete performance evaluations timely. Make daily rounds to ensure nursing personnel are performing required duties and to ensure that appropriate procedures are being followed. Make physical rounds on all customers daily. Make rounds with physicians as necessary. Submit Workmen’s Compensation forms (once reviewed) to the Business Office Manager within 24 hours after their occurrence. Plan, conduct and participate in In-service Education Programs. Assist in implementing and maintaining an effective orientation program that orients the new Ladies and Gentlemen of Alden to the facility, his/her department and its policies and procedures. Attend and participate in continuing education programs. Place orders for equipment and supplies as necessary following established budgetary guidelines. Maintain budgetary restraints by following established procedures for preparing purchase orders for review by the Administrator prior to placing orders. Maintain a reference library of written nursing materials (i.e., Drug Formulary, State and Federal regulations, etc.) that will assist the nursing service department in meeting the day-to-day needs of the customer. Participate with the Administrator and Admissions Director in selecting appropriate admissions and assignments of rooms. Review nurses’ notes/EHR to ensure they are informative and descriptive of the nursing care being provided, and they reflect the customer’s response to the care. Monitor medication passes and treatment schedules to ensure medications are being administered as ordered and treatments are provided as scheduled. Ensure that professional nursing personnel have valid and current licenses as required by State. Ensure changes in customer condition are reported to family and attending physicians. Encore Village is currently hiring for a Registered Nurse Full time 3-11pm and 11pm-7am As a registered nurse, you will make a difference in the lives of our residents, caring for them with passion and dedication, building meaningful relationships along the way. You will perform and supervise day-to-day nursing activities in the provision of direct resident care. You will perform the duties within the scope of practice that you are licensed to perform. All nursing activities must be performed in accordance with federal, state, and local, guidelines and regulations that govern our facility, including the policies and procedures of the organization. Summary of Job Duties: Perform resident assessment through use of direct physical assessment, behavior monitoring, various assessment forms, review of hospital records, laboratory results, resident medical records, and information provided by the interdisciplinary team, resident, and/or the resident's significant others. Monitor residents for changes in condition that may indicate progress or deterioration in the resident's overall status. Notify physicians and families of changes and transcribe orders received. Administer medications according to facility policy and monitor residents for therapeutic and adverse effects. Notify physician and pharmacy of suspected and actual adverse reactions. Document medications on the (EMR) Medication Administration Record immediately when given or refused. Provide various treatments according to facility policy and as ordered by the physician such as, but not limited to, the application of topical ointments/solutions, application and removal of dressings, and provision of respiratory treatments. Document treatments on the (EMR) Treatment Administration Record immediately when completed. Triage emergency situations and provide appropriate first aid in a timely manner. Complete appropriate reports and consult with Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) Unit Manager or charge nurse on duty. Collaborate with physicians to assure timely visits, follow-up visits as indicated, signing of physician orders, and progress notes per policy and regulation. Supervise C.N.A.'s on their shift to assure proper timely delivery of resident care and completion of assignments. Complete work assignments with C.N.A.'s, and communicate any changes in resident care plan or condition of resident. Maintain PHI by assuring C.N.A.'s adhere to facility policy and procedure. Regulatory Compliance: Understand, comply with and promote all rules regarding resident rights. Educate and assure C.N.A. compliance with respect to resident rights. Report all suspected, alleged, or witnessed physical, sexual, or verbal abuse immediately to the Administrator, Abuse Prevention Coordinator and/or designee. Training and Development: Attend all staff meetings and in-services as required. Attend organization-wide programs and meetings to be informed and current on organizational strategies and programs. Maintain competence with specified nursing skills by performing competency training as directed by the Director of Nursing (DON). Qualifications: Current State of Illinois RN licensure Current CPR card. Graduate of accredited Registered Nursing program One-year experience of long-term care nursing, preferred.
