Step into a meaningful contract role providing dedicated care as a school-based Registered Nurse for a young student with complex needs. You'll be working onsite in a supportive educational environment, giving hands-on nursing support to a 3-year-old with Infantile Neuroaxonal Dystrophy (INAD). This opportunity extends from early January 2026 through late June 2027, scheduled weekdays from 8am–3pm (approximately 35 hours weekly). This student is non-ambulatory, non-verbal, and requires special assistance with mobility, transportation, and nutrition. You will play a vital part in supporting their school day, providing both compassionate medical attention and seamless collaboration with teachers and staff. Key Qualifications: Active RN license in New Jersey Pediatric nursing experience is essential Prior work in school settings strongly preferred Comfortable managing NG-tube (no G-tube required) Ability to perform safe lifting and physical support (student ~24 lbs) Familiarity with mobility aids (stander, gait-trainer) Reliable for on-site work and accompanying student on bussing Strong communication and quick response under pressure Role Responsibilities: Providing direct nursing care to the student throughout the school day Supporting nutritional needs and monitoring NG-tube function Assisting with mobility, transfers, and positioning Ensuring the student’s safety during transport to and from school Collaborating with the educational team and updating on healthcare status Meticulously documenting all care and observations Communicating with families and school staff as necessary This position offers a unique experience in pediatric school nursing within a caring, collaborative setting.
