The Labor & Delivery unit at Pennsylvania Hospital is looking for a Full-Time Night shift Clinical Nurse 2. 15 months of Inpatient RN experience is required, and Women's Health or related experience is highly preferred! The Labor & Delivery at Pennsylvania Hospital provides holistic, family centered services to the childbearing population of the Tri-state area including Central and Southern New Jersey, Northern Delaware, and the Greater Philadelphia area and its suburbs. Labor & Delivery (L&D) is a Level III, tertiary care facility, located on the third floor of the Preston Building, which provides the following services: - Management of the uncomplicated pregnancy in the labor, delivery and recovery period - Management of the complicated pregnancy in the labor, delivery and recovery period - Operative procedures of pregnancy including cesarean section, cesarean hysterectomy, fallopian tubal ligation, and dilatation & curettage (D&E) - Antenatal testing including biophysical profile (BPP), non-stress test (NST), amniotic fluid volume indexing (AFI), and ultrasound - Interruption of pregnancy for genetic indications via cerclage removal, dilatation & evacuation, and prostaglandin induction. Patients with injuries that are stable but require ongoing close monitoring are admitted to this unit directly from the ED or the Ross Trauma Admitting Area. Patients are also admitted to the unit as they are downgraded from the Trauma/Surgical ICU or the Trauma Step-Down Unit. Patients usually cared for in this area include those with traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, rib fractures and lung injuries, as well as diverse orthopedic injuries requiring frequent monitoring and care. The unit is staffed with registered nurses, critical care technicians, trauma surgery nurse practitioners and resident physicians. Staff also work closely with respiratory therapy and specialized surgical groups such as orthopedics and neurosurgery. Nurses and critical care technicians working in this area receive education specific to the care of the trauma patient.
