Overview For Inpatient assignment, assists the attending physician in the care and management of patients on Inpatient units within the hospital. For Clinic assignment, under supervision of an attending physician this position will provide diagnostic and therapeutic health care coverage for patients which will include but not be limited to taking medical histories, performing physical examinations, coordinating lab tests, diagnostic studies, prescribing medications, and providing assistance to the patient regarding a plan of treatment and education. Other duties may include sharing call hours, phone coverage, and seeing admitted patients within the hospital. For ICU assignment, assists the attending ICU physician in the care and management of patients. This includes making patient rounds, contributing to the decisions for daily care, writing orders, interacting with consultants, and facilitating and coordinating the scheduling of therapeutic and diagnostic tests and procedures. The NNP/PA-C in collaboration with the neonatologist will cover the 10 bed Level 2 NICU at HRMC along with the newborn service. General Summary: The APP, under the supervision of Physicians is responsible for: The APPis responsible for providing care for NICU and Newborn patients within the scope of licensure and within the supervising physician's scope of practice. Evaluate patients, develop treatment plans, order and interpret labs, x-rays and other diagnostic studies per specialty guidelines and under the guidance of the Neonatologist. Perform procedures such as intubation, lumbar puncture, umbilical lines, PICC lines and chest tube placement, and circumcisions. Communicate effectively with parents, other specialists and among NICU team members. Providing education and support to patients’ families. Dispensing medications under collaborative agreement with a supervising physician. Overview The Registered Nurse (RN) provides nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process and standards of practice for a professional nurse.
