Overview The UF Health Cardiac Critical Care Service Line includes a 17-bed Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) and a 24-bed Coronary Care Unit (CCU) , united under one leadership team to provide seamless, high-quality care for adult cardiac medicine and cardiac surgery patients from admission through discharge. The CVICU delivers high-acuity critical care, including advanced life-support therapies such as invasive hemodynamic monitoring, mechanical circulatory support (Impella & Intra Aortic Balloon Pump), CRRT, temporary pacing, advanced airway management, and ECMO, while the CCU manages intermediate-level patients from the same population. Patients include those with acute coronary syndromes, heart failure, arrhythmias, cardiogenic shock, post–cardiac arrest, and those recovering from CABG, valve and structural heart procedures (TAVR), PCI, ablations, and pacemaker placement. Nurses are cross-trained in cardiac surgery and cardiac medicine care and supported by a structured professional development pathway that allows progression from intermediate to advanced open-heart and critical care roles. Care is delivered in all-private rooms with 4:1 CCU and 2:1 CVICU nurse-patient ratios, supported by an engaged charge nurse and a multidisciplinary team of physicians, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, therapists, and specialized nursing roles, fostering collaboration, professional growth, and excellent patient outcomes. Responsibilities Assists providers with patient examination, procedures, and treatment. Responsible for patient histories, routine lab procedures and preparation of specimens for transport to the lab. Follows up on test orders and reports results to provider and patient, provides and maintains patient education materials, maintains medical equipment, and orders clinical supplies. Creates and maintains patient electronic medical record (EMR). Complies with all OSHA and CLIA regulations. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Approved Medical Assistant Certification required within 6 months of hire date or proof of active license/certification. Advanced Practice Provider II | Endo - North/Deerwood | Days | Full Time

Overview Job Duties Provides specialty medical services to patients within the scope of the supervising physician's medical specialty, and under the direction of the department director or division administrator. Assists with specific medical specialty and clinical operations, and counsels’ patients regarding their health. May perform minor procedures within the scope of the supervising physician specialty practice licensed to practice medicine in the State of Florida/Georgia. Clinical Area: The APP II position provides moderate to complex specialty care primarily in an outpatient setting. May perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in accordance with the particular specialty practice, which may occur in an outpatient setting, or procedural area during normal business hours. Responsibilities Essential Functions • Obtains patient histories, performs physical examinations and/or diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, for which they are qualified to perform by training, and which fall within the normal scope of the specialty practice of the supervising physician • Provides complex medical decision making in the treatment of patients consistent with their specialty practice to include providing consult service as appropriate •Interprets and evaluates diagnostic tests, records the data in the patient’s record/progress notes. Reviews, prescribes and/or recommends medications and treatments to patients • Assess patient health status including state of wellness, compliance with care plan and determines appropriate diagnostic and any therapeutic procedure required by their specialty. •Provides follow up for established patients where continuity of care is required along with timely and appropriate referrals to physician and pharmacist for patients in need of further medical care and services. • Instruct, educate and counsel patients/families regarding their healthcare to include illness or injury, therapeutic and diagnostic procedures and treatment regimens as well as routine health maintenance •Enters pertinent clinical information in the patient’s medical record in a timely and accurate manner and in accordance with established compliance billing guidelines.
