Job Summary The Registered Nurse promotes and restores patient's health by completing the nursing process: collaborating with Physicians and multidisciplinary team members: providing support to patients, visitors and families. Responsible for assessing, planning, promoting and evaluating quality patient care. The Registered Nurse provides teaching to patients, families and the public. The nurse is responsible and accountable for individual nursing practice and determines the appropriate delegation of tasks consistent with the nurse's obligation to provide optimum patient care. Ensure operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements following manufacturer’s instructions troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for repairs; maintaining equipment, inventories, and evaluating equipment and techniques. Protect patients, employees by adhering to infection control policies and protocols, medication administration and controlled substance regulations. Utilize universal precautions and practice at all times. Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures rules, and regulations; calling for assistance from health care staff. Document patient care service by charting in patients’ medical records accurately and timely in accordance with licensure and regulatory/hospital standards. Maintain continuity of care with the nursing team by communicating plan of care and follow through with multidisciplinary team ensuring that patient administration of care for all services provided are organized, planned and delivered. Maintain patient confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential. Maintain nursing supplies inventory checking stock to determine inventory and PAR level; anticipating needs supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies, verifying receipt of supplies; using equipment and supplies; using equipment to accomplish job. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, mandatory in-services; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies. The nurse participates in the advancement of the profession through contributions to practice, education, administration, and knowledge development. Engage in quality improvement initiatives including continuing education, participation in hospital-wide and unit specific teams, identifying nursing practice areas for quality improvement and safe outcomes. Maintain a cooperative relationship among the healthcare team by communicating information; responding to request; building rapport; participating in team problem solving. Provide service excellence to patients and their families/visitors that meets or exceeds patient expectations through offering empathetic and compassionate patient-centered care. Professionally manage patient and family/visitor needs and concerns using AIDET and positive service recovery methods. Respond to patient requests and makes active referrals to subject matter expert/decision maker who can fulfill the patient request Provide culturally sensitive care. What you'll do The primary purpose of the Home Health Aide is to perform duties related to personal care and comfort of the residents according to their case management needs. Performs services necessary for the cleanliness and care of the resident’s/patient’s environment, personal items and equipment. Treats the residents/patients with respect and dignity, recognizing individual needs and encourages independence. Report all accidents and incidents observed immediately. Use only authorized abbreviations established by this facility when recording information. Report all changes in resident's/patient’s condition to the supervisor. Ensure the resident's apartment is ready for receiving the resident (i.e., bed made, dishes done, laundry put away.) Greet and escort the resident to his/her apartment. Description Duties Description Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse Supervisor 1 (Psychiatric) or a Registered Nurse 2 (Psychiatric), incumbents serve as members of a multidisciplinary team performing a variety of nursing and client care activities designed to ensure that clients receive all necessary care in accordance with the nursing care plan, established protocols, and standards of health care. Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: Provides direct nursing care to clients, including comprehensive admission assessments, dispensing medication, providing physician-ordered medical treatment, transcribing orders, and collection of specimens for laboratory analysis or culture. Provides health education to clients, monitors client behavior and participates in treatment planning. Assesses the needs of clients, which can include an assessment of care received, services available, and work environments to identify potential obstacles to success. Handles crisis intervention with clients (psychological, physiological and behavioral). Maintains accurate and detailed reports and records electronically and/or physically as appropriate. May provide clinical supervision to licensed, paraprofessional, and direct care personnel (i.e. Addictions Counselors) involved in the care and treatment of clients and may assist in aspects of administrative supervision, such as developing/setting performance standards; may serve as shift supervisor on the evening or night shifts. May assist in general client care activities, such as meal preparation & distribution and room preparation. Maintains a safe and therapeutic environment; monitors clients and ensures building security. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Qualifications: To meet the minimum requirements to be appointed to a Registered Nurse 1 (Psychiatric), the candidate must be in possession of a license and current registration to practice nursing within the State of New York. This position may be designated 55 b/c and is subject to verification of applicant eligibility. NOTE: Candidates must be eligible and maintain eligibility for full and unconditional participation in the Medicaid and Medicare programs. Failure to maintain licensure, certification and Medicaid/Medicare eligibility will result in the termination of employment. Mandatory overtime (MOT) is a requirement of this position. Chosen candidate(s) will be added to the mandatory overtime roster, which is utilized on a rotating basis. The MOT is applied during times of emergency, after the agency has made a good faith effort to have overtime covered and all other staffing options have been exhausted (volunteers, hourly staff, contracted staff). Our Addiction Treatment Centers (ATCs) operate 24/7/365 programing. Therefore, MOT IS an essential function of this position and is critical to maintaining adequate staffing at all times in order to ensure the health and safety of clients within the facility. Additional Comments RRegistered Nurse 1 Psychiatric - $73929 - $82,656 Plus Geographic Pay - $20,000 Plus Shift Differential – 7% of base salary Plus Inconvenience Pay - $575 The salary range listed for this posting reflects the full range for this graded position, factoring in annual performance advances based on satisfactory annual performance reviews. Candidates with no previous State service will begin at the hiring rate (starting rate of the salary range) listed above, plus any applicable Location Pay/Geographic Pay/Shift Pay differentials. Promotion salaries are calculated by the NYS Office of the State Comptroller in accordance with NYS Civil Service Law, OSC Payroll rules and regulations, and negotiated union contracts.
