Position Summary Administrative Nurse I is responsible for directing patient care, related unit activities and personnel on an assigned shift utilizing the Nursing Process and Relationship-Based Care model as the framework in order to ensure quality patient care and workflow. The ANI identifies work priorities, determines and coordinates daily assignments and staff scheduling. The Administrative Nurse I is responsible for directing the nursing service of an assigned unit, with responsibility for implementation and modification of patient care plans. They work under general supervision from a designated supervisor(s) to accomplish: Duties & Responsibilities Develops, implements, and updates the patient’s plan of care based on on-going assessment of the patient and input from the patient’s family. Advocates for patients, families, and their significant others, the community, and the nursing profession. Integrates theoretical knowledge, evidence-based research, current standards of practice and clinical experience to provide “quality” patient care as measured by established nursing quality standards and other governing/accrediting health care bodies. Takes responsibility for continued professional growth/development by identification of learning needs and initiates strategies to meet such needs. Identifies recurring clinical practice and/or related unit problems and participates in problem solving and resolution. In collaboration with Patient Care Manager/Director/CNCII assists with unit-based quality/research initiatives and provides feedback and education to staff. Maintains overall knowledge of all patients’ status in order to assist nursing and medical team members and directs workflow to facilitate timely patient admission and discharge. Assumes role of Charge Nurse as assigned, utilizing appropriate resources and tools. Acts as a resource for unit personnel and aids in resolving questions related to policy, standards and procedures. Demonstrates critical thinking skills, conflict management and customer service skills in serving as a role model and problem solver for the organization and unit. Recognizes and responds to patient care issues providing direction, feedback and follow-up to staff, manager and other healthcare team members. Procures necessary clinical supplies and equipment. Follows up on repairs/maintenance of equipment as needed. Contributes feedback to performance evaluation of unit personnel. Other duties as assigned. Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Join UChicago Medicine, as an Oncology Nurse Navigator in the HHT and Lymphoma at our Hyde Park Campus. The Oncology Nurse Navigator directs the coordination of care for patients with Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia (HHT) and Lymphoma patients. As an Oncology Nurse Navigator (RN) for the HHT and Lymphoma Teams, you serve as clinical liaison and the single point of contact for patients, coordinating their care as they move from initial diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship. You help ensure timely delivery of care and eliminate potential barriers, identify resources, and serve to enhance patient care and the patient experience. In this role, the Oncology Nurse Navigator is responsible for the coordination of all aspects of patient care for this population including education, multidisciplinary referrals, data tracking, diagnostics, determining protocol eligibility, treatment orders, consents and other activities essential to the overall care of the patient.
