Registered Nurse (RN) Duties and Responsibilities: Provides licensed care to assigned residents as ordered by physician and in accordance with facility, federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations Provides and receives nursing reports upon reporting in and ending shift duty hours. Ensures assigned work area (i.e. nurse station, medication cart, medication room, etc.), resident care rooms and treatment areas are maintained in a clean and sanitary manner. Directs and supervises the day-to-day certified nursing assistant services for assigned unit to assure that care is being rendered in accordance with current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations. Takes and records residents blood pressure and vital signs, administers catheter care, administers IV therapy to residents as ordered within license limitations, and provides respiratory care, e.g. oxygen, nebulizer treatments. Receives and transcribes physician’s orders to resident’s charts, Kardex/Care Medication Administration Record (“MAR”), treatment/care plans, as required. Prepares and administers medications and performs treatments as ordered by the physician. Charts nurses notes in an informative and descriptive manner that reflects the care provided as well as the resident’s response to the care. Counts all controlled drugs with other nurse at shift change and notifies management of all drug and narcotic discrepancies noted on your shift. Ensures the resident’s environment is as free from accidents and hazards. Immediately corrects/addresses potential safety risks as prudent and warranted. Makes written and oral reports/recommendations concerning the activities of shift as required. Admits, transfers and/or discharges residents as necessary to meet the resident’s individual needs and maintains the overall safety of other residents, staff and visitors. All other duties, as assigned. Registered Nurse (RN) Skills and Abilities: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Ability to multi-task and remain calm under stress. Analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to organize and prioritize work. Understands and follows infection control standards, policies and procedures. Must be able to adapt to a flexible work schedule and occasional overnight travel. Demonstrate basic computer knowledge and ability with an aptitude to learn company applications. OVERVIEW Provides direct patient care by assessing patients, giving medications and treatments, and creating individualized care plans. Works closely with doctors and other healthcare team members to ensure safe, high-quality care while educating patients and families and accurately documenting care. SCHEDULE: 40-hours per week ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Utilizes the nursing process and collaborates with interdisciplinary team members in caring for patients. Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques, policies and procedures, standards of care, and State laws practice act. Documents according to standards of care. Performs assessments, planning, intervention, and evaluation of care. Develops, initiates, and executes a patient plan of care according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by Physician and or clinic policy including patient and family instruction. Participates in department or unit performance improvement activities, may include shared governance. Utilizes clinical expertise and guidance to other units’ departments in support of the patient’s longitudinal plan of care. Utilizes critical thinking regarding patient safety and patient experience and appropriately escalates to the appropriate chain of command. Participates in the professional nursing continuum process, unit practice activities and decisions and peer review process. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE Graduate of an accredited nursing program. ADN required upon hire, BSN preferred. May require specific years of applicable experience to qualify (per department guidelines) CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE Licensed as an RN in state of practice Approved CPR/BLS certification required within 90 days Other certification(s) per unit requirements.
