The CNM provides full-scope obstetric and gynecologic care to low and moderate risk patients in our several clinic locations and Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health’s Women & Babies Hospital. Inpatient responsibilities include assessing patients in Triage, managing low and moderate risk labor, attending births, and rounding on postpartum patients in our Couplet Care unit. Our midwives function independently within a team-based care model. We maintain excellent working relationships with our collaborating physicians, as well as with the residents and nurses on the labor floor, to provide midwifery services to patients. The CNM should be self-directed, responsible and accountable for clinical practice and also provide continuity, compassionate, culturally sensitive care to patients. Our CNMs interests and responsibilities extend to the community level where they strive to improve maternal/child health from a patient-centered/family centered approach. Some travel may be required to satellite offices.
