Performs Point of Care Testing, including but not limited to hearing, flu, urine and strep tests. Collects blood or other laboratory specimens and prepares them for further testing. Authorizes prescription refills as instructed by the provider. Assists with test tracking and monitoring overdue results. Removes sutures and changes dressings on wounds as necessary. Participates in daily huddles with the provider. Serves as a patient experience advocate by being a positive influence at all times when interacting with patients, visitors and colleagues. Communicates with all patients, visitors and colleagues in a professional manner while keeping customer service a top priority. Handles all patient information in a confidential manner according to Lancaster General Health privacy and confidentiality policies and procedures. Performs various front office responsibilities as necessary. May require some regional travel - valid driver's license is required if traveling. Documents care provided. Completes assigned paperwork, i.e., wound documentation, recap of important orders, MARS, TARS, etc. on each resident on assigned resident care unit. Performs clinical testing such as glucometer and pulse oximetry as necessary. Administers ordered medications as approved and treatments including monitoring of IV fluid. Observes residents and answers call bells in a timely manner to respond to residents' care needs. Reports observations, changes, unusual conditions or reactions to supervisor or appropriate discipline in a timely manner. Takes appropriate action as requested or required by the situation. Notifies family of change in residents' condition or hospitalization according to Masonic Village policy. Performs accurate assessments of resident needs and strengths. Assists in the development of the plan of care as well as in the completion/update of the RASP and other mandated forms as needed and within mandated timelines. Implements the plan of care and oversees care provided by assigned nursing personnel. Communicates effectively and in a non-aggressive manner with residents, family members, visitors and co-workers. Establishes and maintains collaborative communication with providers, other health professionals and Masonic Village departments. What You Need as a Personal Care Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN): Graduation from an accredited school of nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Current LPN licensure by the PA State Board of Nursing. CPR certification (prior to or upon employment). Previous experience in long-term care preferred yet not required.
