The night shift Advanced Practice Provider covers three inpatient services: Inpatient Leukemia, Inpatient Cellular Therapy, and Inpatient Chemotherapy . These services are all APP-staffed services which each have the support of a Hematology/Oncology Fellow and Hematology/Oncology Attending. After an orientation period on both days and nights, the APP will work independently and autonomously on the Inpatient Hematology/Oncology Night APP Team. At night, the APP will be responsible for managing established inpatients and admitting patients appropriate for the services. The APP will be trained to manage oncologic emergencies such as neutropenic fever, tumor lysis syndrome, and cytokine release syndrome. The APP will always have the fellow and attending as resources, although they will not be in house at night. Optimal staffing at night is 2-3 APPs covering all three services per night. This position is a 100% onsite opportunity. You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area. APP Job Summary: The Nurse practitioner/physician assistant is an APP responsible for comprehensive direct patient care management. The APP manages a caseload of patients and exercises autonomous decision making in the assessment, diagnosis, and initiation of delegated medical treatments.
