Ensures access to interpreter services for patients with communication barriers. Perform other duties as assigned. Performs laboratory tests as ordered, completes laboratory requisitions, and packages labs for transport according to PPGNY lab procedures. Runs Daily Controls. Performs clinic opening and closing duties; clinic and equipment cleaning; re-stocking supplies, etc. Reports facility and equipment issues, as indicated Follows all lab and quality assurance protocols; uses appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and infection control precautions Assists in abortion service in a variety of functions as needed, including abortion counseling, Products of Conception (POC) room, float and assisting in surgical room. Attends monthly didactics and incorporates information into daily care provision. Maintains clinical skills and competencies as required by PPGNY, PPFA, and NYS DOH. Participates in annual competency checks and training for all new services, tests, and skills as assigned. Maintains up-to-date Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Responsibilities: A Registered Nurse who, under the direction of the nursing leadership is responsible for planning, directing, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating nursing care for a specific unit during her/his shift. Receives report from previous shift, making sure that he/she has received all pertinent information on each resident. Continuously evaluates behavior, symptoms, reactions and progress of residents and discusses findings with Nurse Manager/Charge Nurse. Administers and documents all medications according to established policies and procedures, physician's orders and Department of Health regulations. Discusses the need to discontinue or change a medication of treatment with the Nurse Manager/ Charge Nurse. Orders prescribed medications, notifies pharmacy of discontinued medications: and ensures accuracy of medications and dosages when received from pharmacy. POSITION SUMMARY: To assist surgeons and registered nurses by performing routine, technical, and related duties during surgical operations. To provide safe and competent care to all patients in a variety of age groups and function effectively with a variety of patient physical and emotional disabilities. To be responsible for the daily cleaning and processing of equipment, providing for the between case turnover by removing, cleaning, and decontamination of equipment used by the team, and ensuring clean equipment for each procedure. Be the resource person for assigned specialty including, but not limited to, tray inventory, maintenance of specialty instruments, supplies, ordering of instruments and MD requests. EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent and completion of a formal accredited Surgical Technology Program or military training required. Certification is required through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA). EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 2 years' experience or completion of a formal internship through an accredited Surgical Technology Program. SPECIAL SKILLS: CST and member of the Association of Surgical Technologist preferred. CPR Certification required.
