This is a Full-time, night shift opportunity. 5 Cathcart is a 46-bed medical surgical nursing unit providing superior care to adult acute care patients. Our clinicians use Modified Primary Care Nursing as our care delivery model to provide the highest quality of care. Our physicians, nurses, and patient care techs, are experts in caring for patients with a variety of diagnoses including but not limited to Sickle Cell Anemia, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Congestive Heart Failure and Chronic Renal Failure. We are also well versed in working with the Transfusion-Free Medicine Team to provide care to their patients. In addition, we are experts in providing symptomatic management for oncology patients. Our niche is providing care to patients with multi co-morbid conditions. We use a holistic multidisciplinary approach, functioning within the Relationship Based Care Professional Practice Model. This professional practice model allows us to care for our patients the same way we would want to be cared for-where the patient is a valued integral part of the healthcare team. Summary: The Clinical Nurse 1 New to Practice/Apprentice is a newly licensed new-to-practice RN or RN with less than 15 months of experience that demonstrates basic safe practice within the organizational professional practice model. The Clinical Nurse 1 New to Practice/Apprentice seeks guidance to integrate concepts, knowledge, skills and attitudes to meet standards for competent professional nursing practice as specified in the Clinical Nurse I New to Practice/Apprentice position description addendum. This APRN/PA will function independently and collaboratively to provide specialty medical care for patients from 0 through 20 years participating in Clinical Research Trials. This position is Monday through Friday 8:30 am to 5:00pm with no nights or weekends. The incumbent will coordinate, implement and complete clinical research studies or clinical trials by assisting with IRB submissions, assisting in regulatory document preparation and collection, in-servicing research teams, recruiting study participants, obtaining parental permission/assent, educating parents/participants, scheduling and conducting study procedures/examinations, collecting and recording study data, maintaining study records, interfacing with study sponsors, participation in sponsor study monitoring visits. Major Duties and Responsibilities Directs the daily activities of the licensed practical/vocational nurse and certified nursing assistants in accordance with current federal, state and local regulations and guidelines and established facility policies and procedures. The House Supervisor is a member of the Nursing Leadership Team and has administrative and clinical responsibility for the functioning of nursing services for the facility in the absence of or directed by the ADON/CNO. The House Supervisor also provides administrative guidance and oversight for the entire campus and departments when department managers are off site. (Generally evenings, nights and weekends). Providing leadership and role modeling for assigned staff. Supervises direct patient care, assessments and crisis management. Ensures environmental safety for the patient population. Provide training and education to staff, patients, and families. Under the supervision/guidance of CNO/ADON, conduct performance evaluation of designated staff.
