The Wound Ostomy RN provides expert assessment, consultation, and direct patient care for individuals with complex wound, ostomy, and continence needs. This role serves as a clinical resource to nursing staff and interdisciplinary teams, supporting best practices and quality outcomes across the hospital. This is a full-time, 40 hour day position. Monday–Friday; occasional flexibility based on clinical needs Job Description: Key Responsibilities Perform comprehensive assessments of patients with acute and chronic wounds, ostomies, fistulas, drains, and skin‑integrity concerns. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with physicians and the interdisciplinary team. Provide direct patient care, including advanced wound treatments and ostomy education. Conduct patient and family teaching related to wound and ostomy management, appliances, and long‑term care strategies. Serve as a resource and consultant to nursing staff and clinical teams regarding wound/ostomy care best practices. Participate in product evaluation, quality improvement initiatives, and development of clinical protocols. Document clinical assessments, treatment plans, and patient outcomes in the electronic medical record. Support hospital-wide initiatives to reduce pressure injuries and improve skin‑integrity outcomes. Qualifications Current Massachusetts RN license required. ADN with relevant experience required; BSN strongly preferred. WOCN (Wound Ostomy and Continence) certification required. Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience; wound/ostomy nursing experience strongly preferred. Strong clinical assessment skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively. Excellent communication, teaching, and problem‑solving abilities. Experience with computer systems required, including web based applications and some Microsoft Office applications, which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access.
