Description Northwestern Medicine has an exciting opportunity for either an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or a Physician Assistant to work in our Cardiac Recovery and Observation (CROU) and Cardiac PACU department. The APP provides post-procedural recovery care for patients undergoing invasive and non-invasive cardiovascular procedures through the Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute. The unit supports patients' recovery from diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology procedures, structural heart interventions, and transesophageal echocardiogram requiring monitored recovery. The combined recovery areas include 17 monitored beds (11 CROU and 6 PACU) and care for approximately 8,000 cath and ep procedures annually. This position involves both inpatient and outpatient. Schedule: M-F, days (possible 4x10s - TBD); no nights/weekends/holidays/on-call Essential Functions : Demonstrates clinical expertise and expanded knowledge through patient care activities which may include diagnosis and management of a wide range of health problems. Responsible for health outcome of an assigned patient population. Confers with collaborating physician and other health professionals in area of clinical expertise. Fill out complete accident/incident reports. Encourage attending physicians to review treatment plans, record and sign their orders, progress notes, etc., in accordance with established policies. Chart nurses’ notes in an informative and descriptive manner that reflects the care provided to the customer, as well as the customer’s response to the care. Complete required assessments upon the customer’s admission, transfer, and/or discharge. Receive telephone orders from physicians and record on the Physicians’ Order Form and P.O.S. Record new/changed diet orders. Forward information to the Dietary Department.
