Location BMH Bronson Methodist Hospital Title Registered Nurse ( RN ) - Medical Intensive Care Unit ( MICU ) - Bronson Methodist Hospital The Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) is an 18-bed intensive care unit is for patients ages 18+ who are chronically ill and/or require acute critical care or cardiac intensive care. Conditions seen in the MICU include respiratory failure, GI bleed, liver/renal failure, myocardial infarction, cardiac arrest, pulmonary edema, congestive heart failure, poly-substance overdose/toxicity, DKA and septic and cardiogenic shock. Under general supervision and in accordance with the policies, procedures and guidelines established within the organization, the unit, and the Michigan Public Health Code, the registered nurse manages the care delivery for patients in the organization throughout the length of stay to achieve quality outcomes and timely discharge by the following: utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, diagnosing, implementation and evaluation; coordinating the care provided by other professionals; delegating selected acts, tasks or functions that fall within the scope of professional nursing practice and the abilities of patient care assistants and universal service assistants; providing selected aspects of physical care within the scope of professional nursing practice as appropriate given the patient's level of acuity and complexity of care required; and documenting and communicating during each tour of duty the patient's response to care provided, consumption of resources and anticipated needs. Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served. Associate's degree in Nursing required Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred, must obtain within 8 years of hire Licensed Registered Nurse in good standing for the state of Michigan As of December 29, 2013, any nurse hired by Bronson who does not hold a BSN (or higher nursing degree) will be given 8 years from date of hire date to obtain. If, after 8 years, the nurse has not met this requirement, employment will be terminated. BLS certification required by completion of core orientation Critical care or ALS as well as other certifications may be required for some RNs, unit specific Bronson South Haven Specific - Effective July 1, 2017 all new hires are expected to successfully obtain their BSN within 8 years of hire date. Bronson South Haven Specific : Emergency Department: SALT triage, ESI Triage, and NIH Stroke Scale to be completed within 90 days of hire date. Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC only required for FT and part -time nurses) within 6 months of hire date. Special Care Unit: All nurses in department will need to have Pediatric Advance Life Support certification within 6 months of hire. RNs in Labor & Delivery and Mother/Baby/Antepartum at BMH & BBC Specific : The Electronic Fetal Monitoring Certification through PQF or NCC is required within 6 months of completing intermediate fetal monitoring Current driver's license in the state of Michigan and proof of insurance required for BAH • Ability to read, interpret, and analyze data from various computer systems and equipment in order to set an appropriate plan of action • Must be able to constantly communicate both verbally, in writing and electronically Work which produces high levels of mental/visual fatigue, e.g., interactive and repetitive or small detailed work requiring alertness and concentration for sustained periods of time, the operation of and full attention to a personal computer or CRT between 40 and 70 percent of the time. This is an annual CBL that describes the difference in a swing bed patient versus an in-patient or observation patient. The RN will understand the documentation differences and the specific care required for each individual swing bed patient. Bronson South Haven Hospital and Bronson Lakeview Hospital employees who are approved to work in a Swing Bed Facility only: Employees may be expected to cover shifts at Bronson Lakeview Hospital and/or Bronson South Haven Hospital depending on patient acuity and staffing needs. Virtual Registered Nurse (VRN) Role: The virtual registered nurse leverages technology to deliver patient care remotely, collaborating with bedside staff and the broader care team to ensure quality outcomes and timely discharge. Core responsibilities include, but not limited to: Conducting admission screening, patient/family education, discharge planning, and medication dual acknowledgments via secure digital platforms. Completing diagnostic testing questionnaires and supporting patient safety initiatives. Mentoring and supporting nursing staff and facilitating patient progression toward discharge using electronic health record (EHR) tools such as checklists and clinical pathways. We are excited to be offering a Weekend Only Program for RNs! Eligibility: RNs in inpatient nursing settings with 24/7 scheduling are included. 0.9 FTE would work two 12-hour shifts on the weekend and one additional shift during the week. Compensation: RNs will receive an additional $10 per hour plus their base pay. If the RN is a full-time (3)12s a week RN, the stipend will apply to the two shifts on the weekend and not on the third weekday shift. This $10 per hour will be combined with shift differentials as well as other special codes. Scheduling: RNs will be required to work 48 out of 52 weekends per calendar year. Weekends are defined as Friday and Saturday night for night shift. RNs can request up to 48 hours of PTO on their weekend shifts as well as 48 hours of exchanging a weekend shift for a weekday shift, for a total of 96 hours ‘off’ of the weekend requirement. This would be given in accordance with unit guidelines with allotted PTO as well as peak times, etc. RNs may request 1 holiday off per calendar year that falls on the weekend. The RN would only work the holiday if it fell on the weekend, they will not be moved off a weekend to work on a holiday.
