Position Summary Provide wound, ostomy, and continence (WOC) nursing in the prevention, health maintenance, therapeutic intervention, and rehabilitative and palliative nursing care to persons with select disorders of the gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and integumentary systems. Directs efforts to improve quality of care to individuals of all ages directly through hands on care and indirectly as educators and consultation services. Education Current/valid state of NJ RN license (or legal permission to work from the NJ Board of Nursing). Completion of an accredited Wound Ostomy Continence Nursing (WOCN) full scope specialty education program with subsequent board certification in WOC from Wound, Ostomy, and Continence certification board (WOCNCB). Maintain recertification every (5) five years. Completion of general nursing orientation, CPR certification and unit-based orientation. BLS Required from American Heart Association. Experience Computer and keyboard skills. Medical terminology required. Description As an integral part of the clinical care team, the Patient Care Associate is responsible for patient care and support activities promoting patient focused care within the Specialty Service. The Patient Care Associate supports the registered nurse in patient care activities, such as: assisting patient with activities of daily living, collecting specimens and performing procedures; maintaining a safe, clean environment; and other duties as needed. Clinical/Technical/Service • Demonstrates the ability to perform clinical/technical/service/administrative tasks • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care, based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients served in assigned area. • Performs and records patient’s vital signs, such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature and respirations.
