Also responsible for handling incoming referrals and orders, scheduling, reminders for patients, collection of patient charges and follow-up. Primary Responsibilities Performs various administrative and clinical duties under direction of administration and/or clinician. Assist patients as necessary with walking, transferring, dressing, collecting specimens and preparing for exams. Utilizes electronic health records system to collect pertinent patient history consistent with organizational guidelines. Takes vitals, electrocardiograms, stress tests, ETTs, Event/Holter Monitor Performs screening consistent with provider guidelines. Prepares and administers medications, including intramuscular, intradermal, and subcutaneous injections as directed by the provider. Transmits prescription refills as directed Communicates appropriately and clearly with patients, co-workers, and management. Prepare charts for providers to include obtaining results of studies such as labs, imaging, etc. prior to visit Assists in completion of forms in preparation of provider review and signature Schedule appointments/procedures and answers calls/message in a timely basis Arrange hospital admissions and laboratory services as needed Monthly/Weekly/Annual inspection and testing of equipment used in clinic. Able to recognize and is knowledgeable of heart rhythms on EKG and rhythm strips. Maintains effective communication with the patient and provides an explanation of procedures within the scope of practice. Ensures physician order for the procedure is entered accurately. Consults appropriate resources to clarify orders and deemed necessary. Attend staff meetings as needed. American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position at a Level III trauma center in Farmington, NM, requiring 2+ years of L&D experience and charge-level competency. Job details: - Work setting is a 198-bed, Level III trauma center serving the Four Corners region of New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, and Utah - Unit is the Childbirth Center, encompassing Labor & Delivery, Level 2 Special Care Nursery (SCN), and Postpartum - 17 beds with 2 triage rooms; unit averages approximately 75 deliveries per month - Patient population includes adult and newborn patients with diagnoses including labor, gestational diabetes (GDM), hypertension, IUGR, macrosomia, and drug use in pregnancy - Patient ratios follow AWHONN standards - Equipment used includes fetal monitors, iSTAT, and Freestyle - EHR systems are Cerner and Fetalink; experience with these systems is expected - Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 36 hours per week - Weekend hours vary - No call requirements - No float requirements - Contract option of 13 or 26 weeks Requirements: - Active NM or Compact RN license required - Required certifications: BLS, NRP, ACLS (all must be from the American Heart Association), and AWHONN (must be renewed every 2 years) - Minimum 2+ years of Labor & Delivery experience required - Postpartum couplet care experience required for all candidates - Nursery experience in a Level 2 nursery or higher acuity required for SCN positions - Charge-level experience required - Experience performing cervical exams required - Experience with infant delivery, including situations requiring RN assistance while on-call physician responds - Ability to practice with minimal supervision in a community hospital setting (not a teaching hospital; no resident physicians) - ADN or BSN required Additional information: - Preferred skills include fetal monitoring, neonatal stabilization, high-acuity troubleshooting, and strong triage assessment - Facility serves as a regional medical hub with trauma cases flown in from surrounding areas, including Level I, II, and III trauma cases - This is not a teaching hospital and does not have resident physicians; candidates must be comfortable practicing with a high degree of independence - An area-specific competency exam and skills checklist are required for consideration - Screening questions must be completed for consideration - Farmington, NM is located in the San Juan River Valley in northwest New Mexico, approximately 1 hour from Durango, CO and 3 hours from Albuquerque, NM - The area offers outdoor recreation including hiking, kayaking, off-roading, and access to six National Parks
