Job Description Come join our dynamic, highly skilled Occupational Health Services team! At UCSF, our employees, providers, faculty, and volunteers are the heart of everything we do. The Occupational Health Nurse Practitioner plays a key role in caring for this community in an outpatient setting — creating a safe environment for adult patients, helping people recover from workplace injuries, guiding them safely back to work, and supporting long-term health across the university. While every day is different, you can expect to see a wide variety of work-related injuries including sprains/strains, RSIs, burns, infectious disease exposures, and others. You’ll assess and treat these injuries, refer out for diagnostics, write appropriate work restrictions and create a care plan that allows the employee to stay active and ideally return to their prior level of function. Other clinical work includes evaluating blood-borne pathogen exposures, completing pre-placement health assessments and return-to-work evaluations to help keep the workforce healthy and safe. The work is steady, varied, and team-based. You’ll collaborate closely with occupational health leaders, fellow NPs, RNs, LVNs, MAs, and administrative staff, while still having room for independent clinical judgment. Job Description The Critical Care Nurse Practitioner is a licensed nurse who possesses the advanced education, knowledge, clinical skills and experience necessary to provide expert advanced practice nursing in critical care. The primary responsibility of the Critical Care Nurse Practitioner (CCNP) is providing and directing care for patients in the adult ICUs at the UCSF Medical Center. The CCNP is responsible for maintaining quality of care standards for all procedures and clinical care provided in the ICUs. The CCNP provides self-direction and accountability in the development of this role within the medical center. The CCNP shall provide medical and nursing care under the supervision of the Physician Director of Adult Critical Care Medicine and their individual collaborating physicians. The CCNP shall provide care in accordance with standardized procedures. The CCNP shall be proficient in the areas of arterial catheter insertion, central venous catheter insertion, ventilator management, sedation, and pain control. The Medical Staff Office on a biannual basis grants privileges to practice at UCSF Medical Center. The CCNP may rotate through all of the focused care ICUs at the medical center including: cardiothoracic, neurologic, neurosurgical, medical, general surgical, and transplant. The CCNP shall work collaboratively with physician students, residents, fellows, and attending physicians. The CCNP will participate in the precepting of Advanced Practice Provider (APP) students and post graduate fellows. This position is scheduled for 12 hour rotating shifts from days to nights including holidays and weekends. Job Description The Preanesthesia (Preop) and Post-Anesthesia Care Units (PACU) at Parnassus comprise of 37 combined Preop and PACU beds in addition to one Procedure Room. The team of over 75 Perianesthesia specialty nurses provide dynamic, compassionate care for a wide variety of patients following anesthesia in all age groups. This unit prepares patients for surgery, assures their readiness, and provides preoperative teaching for patients and their families. Our postoperative area cares for patients recovering from a wide variety of surgeries and procedures: general, vascular, thoracic, orthopedic, transplant, neurological, plastic, eye, bariatric, oro / nasal / facial, genitourinary, and Radiology. Electroconvulsive Therapy, Cardioversions, and TEEs are also performed in our procedure room with the assistance of our nursing team. The priority postoperatively is to physiologically stabilize patients, provide innovative pain management strategies, and integrate family-centered care. Once the patient is stable and awake, family members are encouraged to rejoin the patient. An interdisciplinary team of nurses, surgeons, specialty physicians, anesthesiologists, pain service physicians, and respiratory therapists work to initiate the recovery from surgery continued in the inpatient or outpatient setting. The Perianesthesia nurses work collaboratively with anesthesia providers, surgeons, and other members of the interdisciplinary team. In addition to the Unit Director and Assistant Unit Directors, this area is also supported by a Perianesthesia Nurse Educator.
