SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Clinic Administrator or Physician, and according to established procedures, provides care to patients and families. Responsible and accountable for the care provided regardless of whether it is provided solely by said nurse or if by the nurse and others under his/her supervision. Implements and coordinates the steps of the nursing process, involves the patient in decision making relative to care and is responsible for making nursing care judgements and acting upon them. Collaborates with Physicians in the management of prescribed medical plan of care. Involves implementation of the physician prescribed regimen, evaluations of patient response to the regimen and communication to the Physician of changes in the patient’s status. Functions under protocol which extend responsibilities for medical management activities. Coordinates the patient plan of care with nurses, Physicians and other member s of the Health Team and agencies within the community, to provide an integrated and comprehensive approach to care delivery. Responsible for participating in educational, quality assurance and research activities. Additionally, the Registered Nurse acts as a consultant, sharing his/her clinical expertise and knowledge with other health care providers and members of the community. Performs clinical management functions specifically delegated by the Clinical Manager. The nurse participates in organizational planning and decision making which affects patient care and Ambulatory Service operations. The Registered Nurse also participates in related nursing, medical and hospital committee activities. Nursing Supervisor - Per Diem

$45.47 - $71.02 / hour
Scheduled Weekly Hours: 0 - An experienced Registered Nurse, who in addition to providing direct patient care as needed is accountable for facilitating an interdisciplinary approach to patient care, patient flow, staffing, resource utilization, and problem solving on a given shift. The Nursing Supervisor functions under the direction of the Sr. Director in collaboration with the Nurse Managers to create an environment conducive to maintaining established standards of practice. S/he functions within policies, practice guidelines and nursing standards of SMH in accordance with the Massachusetts Nurse Practice Act, CDC and OSHA standards, and any other applicable regulatory or accreditation agency. PER DIEM position for off shifts, weekends, and holidays. Required Skills/Qualifications/Training/Experience: Minimum of 5 years of Clinical Nursing experience preferred Minimum of 2 years of Nursing Leadership experience preferred Excellent quality of Nursing Care as part of a comprehensive care team Preferred Skills/Qualifications/Training/Experience: Must meet all criteria associated with responsibilities detailed in this document and the core/unit specific competencies for registered nurses. Must provide timely, positive responses to the needs of all customers including patients, families, co-workers and physicians. Educational Requirements: BSN preferred Successful completion of orientation including electronic documentation competencies License/Certification: Current Massachusetts RN licensure Current BLS/ACLS certification Unit-specific competencies/certifications (i.e. NRP, PALS, specialty certifications).
