The responsibilities of this job include, but are not limited to the following: Locating patients, obtaining accurate vital signs by visual and auditory measures, triaging patients, assessing patients’ medical condition, and preparing patients for physicals and medical treatment by Physicians and Nurses; Understanding and using the electronic medical record system; Ordering lab, x-ray, and medical supplies as directed; Notifying the Nurse and/or Physician when the patient is ready for exam while communicating symptoms and relaying questions about lab or x-ray needs; Assisting Nurses and Physicians with various forms of patient treatment and care; Handling Physician and Nurse requests with respect and in a timely manner; Performing lab duties as assigned; Performing phlebotomy procedures; Sterilizing and setting up instruments; Receiving and storing supplies; restocking treatment rooms as needed; Reporting to the Charge Nurse before leaving at the end of the shift; Following ancillary guidelines as deemed necessary by the Charge Nurse, Nurse Supervisor, DMS, and Physician; Adhering to established policies and procedures; Maintaining cleanliness of the treatment area and completing biological cleanup in accordance with OSHA guidelines and other maintenance assignments as directed; Washing, drying, folding, and restocking laundry; maintaining the cleanliness of the washing machine and dryer lint trap; Attending staff meetings as scheduled by the Nurse Supervisor or DMS; Operating, using, and maintaining medical and office equipment as trained; Completing assigned checklists and Policy Manager tasks within the assigned shift; Being available to assist as needed, as breaks and mealtimes may be interrupted at any time to provide necessary patient care or to maintain center operations; Fostering teamwork and ensuring a positive and professional atmosphere; Providing positive, warm, and friendly service in all interactions; Understanding and performing all duties as assigned. Minimum education and professional requirements include, but are not limited to, the following: Must be 18 years of age or older; Minimum typing experience; High school graduate or equivalent; Minimum of one year of clinical experience in a hospital or physician’s office preferred; Ability to hear pages, bells, and phone system; Ability to sit, stand, and walk for long periods of time (possibly 4 to 7 hours at a time); Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; Ability to attend scheduled CPR classes and code drills; Ability to prioritize and multitask; Willingness to work at any center due to a staffing or center emergency or reduction of work.

Job Details The advanced practice clinician (Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant) within the acute care hospital setting works in collaboration with, and is an integral member of, a multidisciplinary health care team. The APC provides comprehensive care on the inpatient oncology service. Job Description Assessment & Management Performs complete history & physicals and documents in the medical record. Orders and collects data using appropriate assessment techniques, relevant supporting diagnostic information and diagnostic procedures where indicated. Utilizes evidence-based practice guidelines and protocols in an individualized, dynamic plan of care that can be applied across the continuum. Implements and modifies plan of care. Prescribes diagnostic strategies and therapeutic interventions. May perform advanced procedures consistent with privileges and competency validation. Communication and Collaboration Maintains ongoing communication and collaboration with interdisciplinary health care team. Facilitates and communicates with patient, family, and staff to promote continuity of care across the inpatient and outpatient continuum of care. Documentation is timely, meets acute care compliance standards, and captures patient acuity. Position Overview Position responsible for performing advanced indirect and selected direct patient care duties in support of the nursing process in a competent manner under the direction of an RN and for performing related clerical functions, must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development as it relates to the different life cycles. Essential Job Functions Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to the patient served Delivers appropriate advanced indirect and selected direct patient care at a competent level as directed by a physician or registered nurse within the scope of hospital-approved PCA skills inventory according to the needs/age of the patient/population served; collaborates with other members of the healthcare team to plan, expedite and promote quality patient care; employs critical thinking skills when identifying and responding to abnormal findings, reporting such to the nurse immediately; maintains simple drainage devices; takes patient vital signs, perform blood glucose checks, perform EKGs, monitor intake and output, and maintain related records; perform skin preps and prepares patient for procedures as directed Answers call bells, prepares patients for meals, prepares meals and feeds patients; performs/assists with baths; assists patient in mobility; transports patients within the facility and performs assigned treatments, as directed; maintains equipment and patient rooms in orderly fashion; performs housekeeping duties for patient rooms, performs assigned data entry via computer; serves as Unit Clerk and/or monitors patients as assigned Ensures safe care to patients adhering to policies/procedures/standards of care, within budgetary specifications, including time management, supply management, and accuracy of practice Other Job Functions Promotes individual professional growth/development by meeting requirements for mandatory all-staff meetings/continuing education/skills competency; supports department goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor/mentor/resource to less experienced staff Basic Qualifications High School Diploma or GED, required Certified Nursing Assistant, preferred Current BLS certification, required 2 years of work experience in an acute care hospital as a Nursing Assistant or currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program, required (this qualification is preferred for hires in Oklahoma) Ability to understand written instructions and perform basic mathematical calculations; demonstrates skills for assigned specialty area/function or assigned procedures Demonstrated ability to perform duties with increased responsibilities. Ability to perform duties requiring prolonged standing, walking, stooping, bending, and lifting Basic knowledge and understanding of PPE protocols and universal precautions Position requires fluency in English; written and verbal communication Pennsylvania Candidates: Act 33 (Child Abuse History Clearance), Act 73 (FBI Fingerprint Criminal History Clearance) completed within the last 5 years, or must be obtained prior to start date.
