BASIC PURPOSE Oversees primary caseload of Hospice patients and provides skilled professional nursing care to them, their families and caregivers as prescribed by the physician and in compliance with the Hospice Medicare Conditions of Participation, New Jersey Hospice licensure laws, accrediting body standards and agency policies and procedures. Job Overview At RWJBarnabas Health, the Registered Nurse (RN) working on the psychiatric inpatient 22 bed Dual Diagnosis Mental Illness (DDMI) unit specializes in treatment of patients with autism and intellectual disabilities and varying medical complexities. Trinitas is proud to be the only hospital in New Jersey with a separate unit to serve this population. The psychiatric inpatient 27 bed closed unit is an involuntary unit. Patients are committed to being inpatient for treatment and can have varying medical complexities. The psychiatric inpatient 21bed open unit is a voluntary unit. Patients are able to sign themselves in for treatment and can have varying medical complexities. Our staff are cross trained to work all the units within our inpatient behavioral health department. We provide management of acutely ill patients with lift-threatening conditions requiring complex assessment, high- intensity therapies and interventions, and continuous nursing vigilance. Our care management consists of care bundles based on evidence-based practices that are executed with compassion and caring. A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is strongly preferred; graduation from an accredited School of Nursing is required. At least one (1) year of Behavioral Health Nursing required. Medical/Surgical and or Telemetry nursing experience is preferred, as is Psychiatric-Mental Health certifications and/or national nursing certifications, and comfort with electronic medical record systems (EMR) like EPIC. In this position, you will work 7a-7:30p. This position requires every other weekend and holiday required. The schedule during the week will vary depending on department needs. This position offers a Day Shift schedule and 36 working hours weekly, allowing you to build strong patient relationships while maintaining balance.
