Location SAINT LOUIS, MO 63110 Scheduled Hours 40 Position Summary The Staff Nurse I supports the daily operations of the Highlands Plaza Allergy & Immunology clinic, providing specialized outpatient nursing care and ensuring an exceptional patient experience. Responsibilities include patient rooming, administering allergy injections, biologics, and vaccines; performing skin, patch, drug, and venom testing; assisting with drug challenges and desensitization procedures; conducting spirometry testing; and supporting overall clinic workflow. The Surgical Services Department provides pre-op and post-op inpatient care to those patients undergoing specialty surgical procedures in the areas of abdominal solid organ transplant, vascular surgery, hepatobiliary, trauma, ear-nose and throat, orthopedic, colo-rectal, urology and other general surgical procedures.¿ Inpatient care in this department focuses on pre-op needs, post-op care and treatment after phase I recovery through discharge from an inpatient nursing division. The department's surgical observation unit and ICU provide intensive care and treatment to those post-op or post-traumatic patients whose condition requires treatment at this level. Preferred Qualifications Role Purpose Provides and coordinates direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning implementation, and evaluation within the guidelines of the standards of nursing care. Supports the clinical manager with the delivery of safe patient care and building an effective work unit. Responsibilities Circulates and scrubs for assigned specialty and OR procedures. Serves as liaison between specialty physicians and hospital. Reviews and maintains physician preference cards from assigned specialty. Maintains proper function of equipment in assigned specialty. Serves as a clinical preceptor/mentor for orienteer and existing staff being introduced to the specialty area, providing them with clinical experience that promotes growth and competency. Presents training sessions on new equipment and instrumentation for nursing and technical staff members when the need arises. Provides feedback to the management regarding staff evaluations.
