Demonstrates knowledge of psychiatric disorders and appropriate nursing interventions; implements nursing interventions identified in the plan of care that is individualized to the patient needs. Applies appropriate interventions to progress the patient towards wellness and addresses maintenance of wellness. Administers medications as prescribed safely; provides education on prescribed medications; recognizes signs and symptoms of adverse drug reactions. Demonstrates professionalism, accountability, and responsibility for decision making, quality nursing care, and knowledge base of psychiatric nursing care. Reviews, revises, and updates medical records within facility guidelines and timeframes. Transcribes and implements physician's orders according to facility policy; documents care, progress, response to intervention in medical record in an accurate, thorough and concise manner. Follows up on client care responsibilities, communicates incomplete assignments, and current client needs to staff to assure continuity of care. Work location: Texas Health Dallas, 8200 Walnut Hill Lane, Dallas, TX 75231 Work Hours Full Time/Evenings (1p-1a); Variable Shifts Weekend and holiday requirements Emergency Department Highlights Self-Scheduling that helps with work life balance Opportunities for educational and career growth Robust Unit Based Council (UBC) and engaged leadership team Fast-paced, high-volume department averaging 200 patients per day Here’s What You Need Nursing Diploma in Nursing required or Associate’s degree in nursing required or Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred 1 year of experience as a registered nurse or completion of an RN residency program required. 1 year of emergency department acute care experience strongly preferred RN – Registered upon hire required and BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required and ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 90 days of hire required and PALS – Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 90 days of hire required and CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention training annually within 90 days required and TNCC – Trauma Nursing Core Course within 6 months required or ATCN – Advanced Trauma Care Nurse within 6 months required A high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
