Measures and documents vitals and communicates the resulting data to the consumer and provider, including temperature, pulse, oxygen saturation, respiration, blood pressure, height, weight, and pain level. Documents chief complaint, allergies, health history, and current medications accurately in EPIC for review by provider. Performs and documents laboratory testing and collections per provider orders and/or standard operating procedures, to include venipuncture with prior venipuncture competency check-off. You will have the opportunity to build your skills caring for higher acuity PCU patients with a lower patient ratio Here’s What You Need Associate degree from an accredited Nursing program or Nursing Diploma required BSN preferred One-year experience as a RN required. Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire Current BLS (required) –prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly. CPI training within 90 days of hire (required) 2+ years of inpatient oncology RN experience and charge/preceptor skills (preferred) Successful completion of the ONS - Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certificate within 6 months of hire required OCN - Oncology Certified Nurse within 2 years of hire preferred What You Will Do Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process Assesses the patient Plans the care of the patient Intervenes as appropriate Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care. Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
