You will be in an important role as part of the clinic team. Under the leadership of a Minute Clinic Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, the ancillary nurse will promote the evidence-based practice in all patient encounters as they perform the major job responsibilities within the scope of their training. You will assist patients with all clinical services available at our clinics. The ancillary nurse will perform tasks such as patient registration and intake, assisting with wait room management and other responsibilities to enhance the patient experience. Clinical responsibilities to include phlebotomy and specimen collection services, vaccine injection, patient assessment activities during intake such as vital signs, and performing diagnostic tests such as EKG, Retinopathy screening and point of care testing (including COVID testing). You will provide excellent patient-focused activities and connections with your patients to meet our mission on to help people on their path to better health. Clinic Operations Support is a major function of this role as you will participate daily in equipment ordering and preparing the clinic for the best patient experience. You will be assigned a home clinic and may be required to float to cover other clinics to support business needs. PRIMARY DUTIES RESPONSIBILITIES: Major Duties and Responsibilities: Phlebotomy and other Medical Services Perform blood draws and sending samples to a reference lab for processing. Able to demonstrate proper collection techniques in accordance with the laboratory collection services policy and procedure manual. Maintains knowledge of laboratory tests and appropriate computer ordering codes. Process specimens maintaining specimen integrity according to individual test requirements. Collect and document vital signs on patients. Preparing, administering and providing vaccination services. Collect hair and oral fluid specimen samples and send to a reference lab for testing. Operate an EKG device for non-emergency readings on patients. Capture images of a patient’s retina by using a fundus camera. Perform CLIA waived point of care testing on patients. May perform additional medical services that fall within the licensure of an Associate Nurse under the supervision of a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant. Patient-focused activities Assist with patient registration, available to answer questions regarding MinuteClinic services. Assist with managing patients in the waiting space and level set wait time expectations. Act as a chaperone if a patient or provider in the primary exam room requests one. Participate in community engagement outreach and initiatives to drive practice growth. Clinic Operations Support Ordering and maintaining adequate supplies for the clinic. Keeping clinical rooms clean, uncluttered and suitable for patient care. Follows universal precautions in cleaning up or disposing of any blood of body fluids. Additional Duties Employee may be required to complete or be responsible for additional job duties as assigned by Nurse Practitioner, Senior Practice Manager, Senior Clinician or Area Director. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: A Registered Nurse License must be full, active and unrestricted in the State for which you are applying (This included a territory or Commonwealth of the United States or District of Columbia) One year minimum related work experience in a healthcare setting required. Experience documenting within an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system required. Proven ability to take vital signs, perform phlebotomy blood draws and perform Point of Care Testing required. Verifiable current/active hands-on CPR Certification (Basic Life Support and or Advanced Cardiac Life Support). Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills. Desire and demonstrated ability to work independently. Demonstrates initiative, problem solving ability, adaptability and flexibility. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Previous Experience working in a Primary Care Clinic, Urgent Care Clinic, Emergency Room or Primary Physician’s Office. Prior experience in Phlebotomy or Specimen lab or collection site. Experience with Epic. EDUCATION: State approved or accredited licensed RN Pay Range The typical pay range for this role is: $26.88 - $58.40 This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. Under general direction of the CNO, the WCS RN coordinates treatment to provide comprehensive wound assessments and plan of care including goals, implementation of treatment, evaluation, and outcomes for patients throughout the facility. Provides patient, family and staff education regarding wound management, prevention of pressure ulcers, support surfaces, dressing selections and other therapies. Acts as the resource person for physicians and clinical staff for wound management. is able to perform general nursing duties in all departments with adequate supervision. Participates in quality improvement plan for the facility. Essential Responsibilities Conducts comprehensive assessment and continuous assessment of deep wounds, skin tears, ostomies, severe burns, pressure injuries or bedsores, continence and diabetic foot wounds to determine potential wound complications, immediate treatment needs, and long-term treatment plans; works with other members of the health care team to determine if additional treatments or changes in care are required. Collaborates with clinical providers and health care team to establish individualized, comprehensive plans of care for patients with complex wounds, ostomies, and/or continence conditions based on the patient's risks, diagnosis, and individual patient needs. Creates a plan of care for the interdisciplinary health care team, including the staff nurses, to follow. Description The Nurse Manager (NM) is responsible for the management of nursing practice and operations on a designated unit/service setting such as inpatient, procedural, emergency department or ambulatory care. This includes, but is not limited to, the management of: clinical nursing practice, staff recruitment, retention, labor relations, supply chain and budget, staffing, employee performance evaluation, quality improvement, staff education, medical records, internal and external regulatory and survey requirements. Implements and monitors unit salary and supply budgets, including capital equipment allocation, budget variances, management of OT and vacancies according to MSHS financial goals. Monitors availability and maintenance of nursing equipment and supplies Maintains position control of established positions and manages the recruitment and retention of qualified staff. Maintains patient/employee confidentiality in the management of information. Evaluates nursing staff performance and mentors, coaches, counsels and disciplines staff as needed. Evaluates all newly hired/transferred staff and participates in the decision about passing the probationary period. Participates in the ongoing and completes the annual performance appraisals for all staff. Completes performance improvement plans of employees as needed and shares feedback with the Associate Directors/Directors and Senior Directors accordingly. Interprets and implements the associated collective bargaining agreements and System and Hospital policies and procedures. Performs disciplinary actions as necessary with collaboration with Nursing and Labor Relations. Acts as a management witness in disciplinary activities. Insures all staff have met their orientation goals/weekly progress reports and annual competency requirements and participates in the Competency Planning Tool for unit/service. Description A Nurse Practitioner is certified under section 6910 of the New York State Education Law and licensed as a registered nurse. A nurse practitioner in a specialty provides acute/primary health care in accordance with written policies approved by nursing and medical administration and manage a clinical program throughout the hospital continuum. Responsibilities Responsible For Patient care as outlined within collaborative practice agreement. Principal Duties and Responsibilities 1. Clinical Practice a. Develops and implements a collaborative practice agreement in the specific clinical area and performs a periodic review of the collaborative agreement. b. Assesses the health status of patients/families by means of comprehensive health history and physical examination. c. Initiates selected therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, consultations and laboratory examination, prescribes and alters medication regimens, interprets findings and alters plan of care according to collaborative practice agreement and protocols in designated area. d. Provides teaching and counseling in the areas of health promotion, maintenance, disease prevention, and management of acute/chronic illnesses. e. Documents findings and plan of care in the patient's medical record. f. Consults with physician as established in the collaborative practice agreement. g. The establishment of Collaborative Practice Agreement Chapter 257 of the Laws of 1988 of New York State which took effect April 1, 1989, authorizes Nurse Practitioners certified by the State Education Department to use the title "Nurse Practitioner" [for Nurse Practitioner job description, see appendix] and engage in the expanded practice of nursing, which may include the performance of primary health care services and the issuance of prescriptions. Practice agreements and practice protocols must be established and maintained in the practice settings of the Nurse Practitioner and collaborating physician where they shall be available to the Department for inspection. 2. Practice Protocols Practice protocols shall identify the area of practice to be performed by the Nurse Practitioner in collaboration with the physician and shall reflect accepted standards of nursing and medical practice. Protocols shall include provisions for case management including diagnosis, treatment, and appropriate recordkeeping by the Nurse Practitioner; and may include such other provisions as are determined by the Nurse Practitioner and collaborating physician to be appropriate. These protocols will be determined by area of specialty. 3. Practice Agreements Practice agreements shall include provisions for the following: a. Patient Assignment Patients are assigned to the Nurse Practitioner or physician according to the needs of the patient. b. Diagnostic Tests Laboratory tests may be ordered according to the initial work-up guidelines found in the reference protocol. Collaboration is not necessary for routine diagnostic procedures. However, consultation and documentation should be completed before more extensive tests are ordered, e.g., nuclear medicine tests, MRI, CT scan, IVP, etc. c. Consultation Nurse Practitioners consult with and refer patients to subspecialty clinics as needed. d. Prescriptive Practice Nurse Practitioners prescribe medications according to the New York State Laws and Regulations for prescription writing and record-keeping (see Appendix). e. Charting Nurse Practitioners are responsible for documenting findings, consultations and plans of care in the patients' medical records. .
