Summary This position is for CNA's currently enrolled in the Nursing Program. 72 working hours required per quarter. Please Note: This a pool position. No guarantee of hours. Assists patients with activities of daily living, provides basic nursing care to all patients, and assists in maintaining a safe and clean environment under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse in charge of the patient and/or unit. Position Reports To: Unit Clinical Manager/Director Essential Functions Perform related assignments and tasks as requested in order to promote positive visitor, family, and staff relations. Provides high quality patient care in a caring and compassionate manor. Reports any observed change in patient condition or behavior promptly to the nurse. Ensures patient care tasks are completed timely. Performs or assists with duties as outlined in the CNA Scope of Practice under the direction of the Registered Nurse. Maintains a clean and safe environment for patient and staff according to hospital and unit policies. Demonstrates competence in providing care routines in accordance with established nursing care procedure to ensure patients' comfort and safety. Takes and records vital signs, height, weight, intake and output, and other measurements as applicable, in an accurate and timely manner. Reports all variations from normal to the RN in charge of the patient. Obtains finger stick blood glucose as delegated by the RN unless working in an area where this is prohibited. Prepares patients for meals, assists in feeding patients (if necessary), distributes fresh water and other nourishment according to patients’ needs. Assists patients with elimination needs. Ambulates/Transfers patients using proper body mechanics and patient safety techniques. Assists nurse in treatment procedures as needed. Documents accurately and timely in the patient medical record. Actively participates in quality improvement programs. Adheres to Confluence Health and Central Washington Hospital/Wenatchee Valley Hospital policies and unit standards as applicable. Required to maintain active Basic Life Support (CPR) certification. Other duties as assigned.
