Scheduling requirements for this position are: Full-time nurses rotate in the IR department, five, 8-hour shifts per week, scheduling times rotate 7:30-4pm, 8am-4:30pm, and 8:30am-5pm. Call requirements begin at 5pm and requires 24 hour coverage including weekends and holidays. Assesses, implements, and evaluates care needed by assigned patients under the direction of the licensed physician. The RN is knowledgeable about principles, theories, current methods and techniques of nursing practice. In addition, the Admission RN provides information to potential hospice patients, assists with the decision making process, performs assessments that assure the appropriate level of care is delivered, and expedites entry into service delivery systems. The Admission RN nurse must attend to the values and rituals important to the patient-family-community environments as well as upholding nursing practice and safety standards. The Admission RN instructs the primary caregiver of immediate care needed to be provided and informs primary nurse of the initiation of the plan of care. In addition, the Admission RN is responsible for practicing within the Hospice regulations and reimbursement criteria.
