INCU has critically care-trained RNs who support the patient's needs and care for ventilated patients. South 10 also has 2 negative pressure isolation rooms with an anti-room that is used when needed for specific isolation needs. We do multidisciplinary rounds Monday – Friday. This involves the patient in their care and allows the team members to collaborate with the patient to give them the best possible care and appropriate discharge to home or other facilities. We have a pharmacist who has an office on the unit to assist the RNs when needed to help avoid delay of care to any patient. Med Tech CMA records the administration of medications and/or treatments appropriately, utilizing the computer system to enter and reference resident information as needed. Observes and reports any reactions and/or side effects of medications to a licensed nurse immediately. Administers PRN medications in accordance with state and federal regulations and consistent with facility policy. Ensure antiseptic techniques and good hand washing practices for infection control, as well as utilizing universal precautions are in place and practiced. Med Tech CMA reports and when appropriate, records any changes observed in condition or behavior of residents and unusual incidents. Submit incident/accident reports to supervisor or Administrator within twenty‐four (24) hours after their occurrence. Communicates with medical staff, nursing service and other department supervisors. Med Tech CMA supervises care staff in absence of nurses. Maintains, cleans and organizes the Medication Room. Maintains a liaison with other department supervisors to adequately plan for resident activities. Attends all required training, in-service and staff meetings May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals. May be subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc, including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses. Maintain resident confidentiality, staff confidentiality; treat staff and residents with kindness, dignity and respect. Comply with Resident’s Rights rules. Med Tech CMA - Requirements: A High School Diploma or General Education Degree; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Evaluates staffing patterns based on unit census, resident acuity, and other resident needs. Adjusts staffing pattern accordingly. Communicates difficulty meeting resident needs and maintaining regulatory compliance promptly to Director of Nursing Experience: 1-3 year professional nursing experience providing direct care in long term care facility, with 1 year supervisory or management experience with direct care staff.
