Department Overview The Midwest Children's Resource Center provides medical diagnosis, psychological assessment, and treatment for children and their families affected by physical abuse, sexual abuse, or neglect. In addition, they are available for telephone consultation 24/7 for child protection, law enforcement agencies, physicians, therapists, attorneys, and concerned parent. They offer training, internships, and fellowhips for physicians, advanced practice nurses, and professionals interested in expanding their knowledge and skill in medical evaluation, interviewing children, psychological assessment, and treating abused children. Position Summary This position provides specialized medical consultation, evaluation, and care for children and adolescents with concerns related to child maltreatment. Key responsibilities include: * Providing phone consultation and triage for caregivers, medical providers, and community professionals. * Conducting medical evaluations, including video-recorded histories, for suspected victims of child maltreatment. * Collecting physical evidence in acute cases of sexual assault or abuse involving children and adolescents. * Providing medical evaluations and ongoing care for adolescents in youth shelter settings. * Coordinating care with a multidisciplinary team. * Occasionally providing testimony in legal proceedings. Schedule and Work Location This is a 0.9 FTE position with day hours. The role is primarily based in the MCRC outpatient clinic in St. Paul. On-Call Coverage and Travel The position includes on-call coverage during nights, weekends, and holidays. On-call responsibilities may involve evaluating acute presentations of physical and sexual abuse at both Children’s campuses.The role also requires travel to youth shelters one to three times per week to provide health education and reproductive health care. Education: * Master's degree from an accredited college. * Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program. License/Certification/Registration: * Current Minnesota RN/APRN Licensure. * Current Nurse Practitioner certification in specialty area. Excise benign skin lesions, moles, and cysts using local anesthesia when necessary. Suture or close wounds after excisions. Administer cryotherapy using techniques like liquid nitrogen application. Drain abscesses and perform incision and drainage procedures. Insert or remove sutures and staples. Manage wound care and provide dressing changes for chronic wounds, ulcers, or surgical sites. Evaluate and diagnose skin cancer. Collaborate with dermatologists to plan and implement treatment, which may include surgery, radiation therapy, or referrals to oncology specialists. Educate patients on proper skincare routines, sun protection, and lifestyle modifications. Counsel patients on the importance of early detection and prevention of skin cancer. Provide guidance on self-examination for suspicious moles or lesions. Prescribe and manage medications. Monitor patients for medication side effects and treatment response. Overview Description : An Advanced Practice Provider III (APP III) is a direct patient care provider licensed in the State of Florida and/or Georgia and provides medical services to patients as defined by their scope of practice and under the supervision of a physician licensed to practice medicine in the State of Florida/Georgia. Provides patient care with advanced knowledge of subspecialty service. Clinical Area: Subspecialty Outpatient and/or Inpatient Setting, may perform procedures/consults, less than 50% time spent in OR, and/or works in the NICU Responsibilities Job Requirement: Provides timely and appropriate referrals to patients in need of further medical care and services. Responds to consults, schedules procedures and handles discharge planning, as appropriate. Educates and counsels patients/families regarding their health care, including routine health maintenance, as applicable. May provide education and instruction to residents and students.
