As a member of the patient care team, the Medical Assistant is responsible for positive patient relations, accurate telephone communication, verification of patient information by interviewing patient and confirming purpose of visit. The Medical Assistant is also responsible to prepare the patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests, taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature, and reporting patient history summary. This position will also be trained and will be responsible for appointment scheduling, and to perform routine duties associated with the collection and maintenance of current patient demographics and insurance information. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Greets patients, take appropriate vital signs, review current medications and record in medical record Assists with tracking and monitoring department specific data Explains policies, procedures, or services to patients using clinical or administrative knowledge, based on scope of practice Manages patient care flow and assist with monitoring CS-Link message pools and standard work Sets up exam room/procedure rooms appropriately based on patient visit needs Sweeps clinical areas to monitor inventory based on standard work Cleans/re-processes equipment and supplies based on standard work and department guidelines Addresses patient, physician, and staff concerns and escalate accordingly Provides assistance in QA measures for suites, including recording QC testing on designated equipment Provides assistance and direct patient inquiries or complaints to appropriate medical staff members and follow up to ensure satisfactory resolution Monitors their own workflow to identify opportunities for improvement Participates in daily huddles and staff meetings Adheres to all infection prevention standards, department policies and guidelines Qualifications Education: High School Diploma/GED Required Vocational/Technical Diploma- Medical Assistant Certificate from an accredited educational program required Experience: 2 years of experience working as a Medical Assistant in an outpatient clinical/medical office setting preferred License/Certification: Basic Life Support Certification from the American Heart Association and/or the American Red Cross for Healthcare Providers Required (Upon Hire)

In an environment of continuous quality improvement, t he Registered Nurse is responsible for rendering professional nursing care and directs and guides patient teaching and activities of ancillary personnel . Exhibits the MHS Standards of Excellence and exercises strict confidentiality at all times. Job Functions: Participates in bedside shift report/handoff. Performs hourly rounding. Obtains required patient assessments and reassessments per nursing policy. Develops a plan of care and teaching plan based on assessed needs of patient and family. Revises as needed per hospital policy. Coordinates timely, adequate teaching to patient/family/significant other in preparation for discharge and documents appropriately. Implements and monitors nursing interventions. Consistently documents assessments, interventions, and outcomes in Meditech within required timeframe. Participates in interdisciplinary rounding and collaborates with team members to identify patient needs. Recognizes changes in patient conditions and communicates with physician using SBAR. Effectively manages patient care and delegates appropriately according to the needs of the patient and the skill of the caregiver. Utilizes appropriate interpersonal communication which facilitates productive relationships with other team members. Facilitates a positive and caring relationship with others by utilizing trust and mutual respect. Establishes a therapeutic relationship between patient, family and self, based on empathy and trust. Promotes a positive patient experience. Seeks help from appropriate resources as needed. Maintains current knowledge of and practices within the scope of hospital policies. Clarifies any unclear communication between members of the healthcare team. Uses proper channels of authority in communicating information. Collects Data related to physical, psychological and psychosocial health status. Develops a plan of care and teaching plan based on assessed needs of patient and family. Revises same as diagnosis and needs dictate. As part of the nursing process, performs admission, handoff, transfer and discharge procedures. Coordinates with physician’s plan of care, the admission assessment and discharge needs. Maintains compliance in RQI. Assumes all other duties and responsibilities as necessary. Charge Nurse: In addition to above essential functions, the charge nurse will also : Complete daily nurse leader rounds. Perform shift checks as assigned. Assists with completion of chart audits for nursing documentation as required. Complete staff assignments taking into account the skill level and acuity of patient assignment. Manages throughput on the nursing unit and make changes to assignments as needed. Reports to the nursing unit manager any problems in regards to performance, safety, staffing, behavior, etc. Assists with conflict resolution in the absence of the nursing manager in collaboration with the house supervisor. Role models positive behaviors with staff including integrity, fairness and consistency. Agent for change for the department. Assigned and assist as super user for completion of incident report. Minimum Education/Experience Required: Current licensure in the State of Ohio or if working in WV will need a WV license as a Registered Nurse. BLS required upon hire. ACLS within 1 year of employment required. Special Knowledge, Skills, Training: Verbal, clerical, numerical, and manual dexterity, color vision and near visual acuity, proper lifting techniques and body mechanics.
