May do venipunctures and EKG's as needed. Administers enemas: retention, cleansing, therapeutic, colonic, irrigation. Maintains cleanliness, safety and efficiency in clinic. Alert to and able to respond appropriately in an emergency situation. Assists with the care of the patients' valuables. Prepares used equipment for re-sterilization. Screens patients as to seriousness of condition. Gives emergency treatment in cases of shock/cardiac arrest in absence of the physician. Knows legal requirements for reporting to police, health department, and other agencies and follows requirements. Checks special equipment, such as autoclave and centrifuge and must be able to properly operate. Accompanies or transfers patients to other departments such as clinic lab and x-ray. Cleans and stocks examination rooms. Manages time in order to expedite patient flow. Assists with minor out-patient surgery. Assists with cast application and removal. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Education • Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing. Licenses & Certifications • Must maintain current licensure in state of practice. • Must successfully complete the I.V. Therapy Course.
