The Advanced Practice Provider provides care to the patient which is delivered during the antepartum periods. High risk patients are cared for in consultation and collaboration with the medical team. The practice setting for the APP-II will be in the Family Birth Center Triage/OB Emergency Department with the focus on enhancement of clinical care, patient satisfaction, and safety. Essential Functions Clinical Practice: The CNM/NP provides clinical services and management of mothers and babies as defined in the standing orders, policies, procedures and protocols for the APP. Performs physical exams, collects and documents data, manages labor and spontaneous delivery, conducts diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, orders and schedules laboratory studies and professional consultations, and prescribes appropriate interventions and medications. Formulates and implements prenatal, intrapartum, postpartum, newborn and inter-conceptional care as defined by midwifery scope of practice. Communication/Consultation: Role models advanced practice professional nursing through conduct, appearance, communication, mutual respect, leadership, ethical decision-making, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
