The Admissions Nurse plays an important role in helping ensure a smooth transition for patients entering the center. Position Responsibilities Review clinical information and referral documentation for prospective admissions. Communicate with hospitals, physicians, case managers, social workers, referral sources, patients, and families regarding potential admissions. Collaborate with nursing leadership and other departments to coordinate safe and timely admissions. Review diagnoses, medications, treatments, physician orders, and other relevant clinical information prior to admission. Assist with ensuring required admission documentation is complete and accurate. Coordinate important clinical information with the receiving nursing team before patient arrival. Follow up on missing or incomplete clinical documentation as needed. Help identify special equipment, medication, treatment, or care needs prior to admission. Maintain accurate documentation regarding referrals, pending admissions, and admission decisions. Provide professional and compassionate communication to patients and families throughout the admission process. Maintain confidentiality and follow applicable NHC policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Support a positive admission experience and smooth transition into the center. Perform additional nursing and admissions-related duties as assigned. Qualifications Current Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in Tennessee, or a current multistate/compact license that permits practice in Tennessee. Graduate of an approved nursing program. Current CPR certification as required. Previous long-term care, skilled nursing, rehabilitation, hospital, admissions, or case-management experience preferred. Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills. Overview Our newly reopened Oncology Unit is a 16-bed unit dedicated to our patients with a variety of cancer diagnoses. Nurses in this area have a 1:5 ratio and specialize in the administration of chemotherapy. Our multidisciplinary team of oncologists, nurses, pharmacists, and support staff are not only skilled and knowledgeable, but are also deeply compassionate while working together to bring patients with cancer specialized nursing care. Responsibilities Plans, coordinates and directs quality, compassionate care by maintaining standards of professional nursing practice and creating positive therapeutic relationships with patients/families.
