Department Overview The main operating room at Children’s Minnesota Minneapolis Hospital includes nine surgical suites and one procedure room. Children’s surgery centers are the first and only in Minnesota to be verified as a Level I Children’s Surgery Center by the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Children’s Surgery Verification Quality Improvement Program. Achieving Level I verification is the highest level of distinction for health systems that perform complex surgical procedures in newborns, children and teens. Children's Minneapolis is a Level 1 designated Pediatric Trauma center At our Minneapolis surgery center, we provide surgical care for children ranging from fetuses and infants to young adults. Surgeries include everything from routine procedures, such as appendectomies, ear tubes and tonsillectomies, to innovative, state-of-the-art procedures, such as neuro, craniofacial, cochlear implantation and fetal surgeries. In a typical year, we perform more than 10,000 surgical procedures. Children's Minneapolis is a Level 1 designated Pediatric Trauma center. Department Overview The pediatric emergency department at Children’s Minnesota St. Paul hospital is a 32-bed, Level IV trauma center that specializes in the assessment and stabilization of acute pediatric illness, injury and trauma. The St. Paul emergency department offers 24-hour access and has some of the shortest wait times in the country. Department Overview Our cardiovascular intensive care unit (CVICU) is a 25-bed pediatric critical care unit for patients with complex conditions and their families. As a member of the largest pediatric heart program in the state, our team works closely with more than 200 interdisciplinary professionals dedicated to the care of children with life-changing cardiovascular diagnoses. In this unit, we care for patients along their continuum of acute recovery to provide for their changing physical and emotional needs as we prepare them to return home. We specialize in caring for children experiencing heart failure, after repair of congenital heart defects and heart catheterization, and before and after transplant. We routinely utilize extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) and ventricular assist devices (VAD) in the care we provide. Our patient population requires hemodynamic monitoring, critical medication management, maintenance of systemic perfusion, and management of organ failure. Department Overview Our Minneapolis neonatal float team is an integral part of nursing services provided within our neonatal community - from the special care nursery up through our level III and level IV neonatal intensive care units. Team members are able to apply specific skills sets to these departments and provide additional resources as needs are identified. The team is a valuable resource for the entire neonatal hospital system. Our nursing care team consists of registered nurses, clinical support associates and unit operations coordinators. RNs hired into this area would support our Special Care Nursery, Infant Care Center and Neonatal Intensive Care units. The neonatal float team offers the flexibility of working in different units while learning new skills every day. We value teamwork, open communication, safety and respect. Position Summary Coordinates and provides family-centered nursing care to infants, children and adolescents, utilizing the nursing process.
