Overview Shift: Day Shift - Full Time Unit Acuity Level: MedSurg Hospital: University This position is referral eligible and currently qualifies for a NEW hourly location differential in addition to standard shift and holiday differentials. About the Unit: This unit specializes in Surgical Oncology, specifically: pancreatic cancer, colorectal cancer, and ear/nose/and throat cancers. Additionally, the unit often sees surgical interventions, related to upper\lower GI, as well as medical patients on shifts. This unit does not administer chemo. This is a high functioning, fast paced surgical and specialized care unit. Clinical Nurses will be a part of a lot of peer-to-peer team collaboration and decision making for recovering post-surgical patients with a cancer diagnosis. This unit at University Hospital provides a phenomenal learning and collaborative environment within a high acuity setting for all nurses. We were recently recognized for going over a year without any accidents. Nursing skills gained on this unit: Peer-to-peer collaboration Patient and family education Patient assessment Critical thinking Qualifications: Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
