Administers medications as prescribed safely; provides education on prescribed medications; recognizes signs and symptoms of adverse drug reactions. Demonstrates professionalism, accountability, and responsibility for decision making, quality nursing care, and knowledge base of psychiatric nursing care. Reviews, revises, and updates medical records within facility guidelines and timeframes. Transcribes and implements physician's orders according to facility policy; documents care, progress, response to intervention in medical record in an accurate, thorough and concise manner. Follows up on client care responsibilities, communicates incomplete assignments, and current client needs to staff to assure continuity of care. Facilitates dose modification by assessing patient, assessing labs, consulting protocol or treatment plan, calculating dose, and consulting physician regarding dosage modifications, including problems and symptom management. Performs venipuncture, accesses implanted ports and maintains central lines catheter devices. Administers all medications using correct medication product, dosage/amount, route, time and technique. Displays appropriate technical skills for the administration of chemotherapy and medications to include, but not limited to, venipuncture, central line access and infusion devices, programs portable infusion pumps for continuous drug delivery, and provides instruction to the patient and/or caregiver in the use of the pump at home. Documents nursing assessments, patient teaching and fluid and medication administration in the patient chart. Communicates all pertinent information and any interventions to the physician. Triages patient phone calls as needed and documents relevant information in the patient's chart. Assesses patient/family needs and provides teaching and other instructional material Qualifications Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, BSN preferred. RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Must maintain continuing education requirements. Minimum two years nursing experience required, oncology experience preferred. We provide care for pediatric patients aged 0 to 18 years. All our pediatric units are secured with restricted access for staff, with visitors gaining entry via monitored access. All pediatric patients wear security tags to assure their safety. Our facilities include a teen room, a spacious playroom for younger patients, and a family waiting room. Our Pediatric unit and PIMU have 38-bed capacity. The Pediatric unit is in Kellemen building on South 7th and offers 26 beds. Experience Required 2 years minimum RN pediatrics acute care experience is required. Education Requirements Graduate of NLN accredited School of Nursing. License/Certification Requirements Current NJ-RN License (Registered Nurse). Current NJ-BLS Certification (Basic Life Support). Current NJ-CNOR (Certified Nurse, Operating Room) preferred. Certain specialties may require advanced certification (i.e. ACLS, NALS, PALS). Special Requirements Per Diem,7PM-7AM, weekends and holidays required. Level Two Pool Work Requirements: Nurses shall work at least three (3) weekend shifts per six (6) week schedule, and six other shifts per six (6) week schedule, which must include four(4) holiday shifts per year (two (2) winter and two (2) summer). Weekend shifts are defined as Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday for night shift and Saturday/Sunday for the day shift; the 3rd weekend shift can be the RNs choice.
