This position reports to the Charge Nurse, Department Director, and other designated supervisory staff on duty. This is a full-time, position working 36 hours per week; Nights with rotating weekends and holidays, 7pm-7:30am EXTRA INCENTIVE: Up to $15,000 sign on bonus, subject to two-year Hospital Sign on Advance Agreement. ( External candidates only. ) Cross trained RNs earn up to $5.00 additional an hour! ($2.00 additional when cross trained to two units, $3.50 when cross trained to three units and $5.00 when cross trained to more than three units) SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES: Performs assessment/data collection, focusing on physiologic, psychosocial, and cognitive status. Implements care in a knowledgeable, skillful, consistent, and continuous manner by utilization of/adherence to pre-determined procedures, policies and care plans. Identifies patient/significant other learning needs, readiness for learning, and implements patient teaching as defined by policy and care plans. Documents in patient’s chart, via electronic medical records and/or paper processes, per policy and in accordance with all regulatory requirements. Functions with awareness of/adherence to safety requirements. Ensures self-compliance with organization policies and procedures as well as labor agreements. Ensures the interface with team members and other support groups is conducted in a courteous and efficient manner conducive with the organization’s values. Qualifications for this position include (not limited to) : Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. Current Washington State RN Licensure. Experience as an acute care registered nurse preferred. Minimum one year of RN experience preferred for specialty nursing departments. Ability to perform the primary functions of a Registered Nurse in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of all assigned patients. HCP (Healthcare Provider) Level of BLS (Basic Life Support) within 30 days of hire – AHA or equivalent. Department RN Preferred Qualifications & Competencies: Resource RN Need to obtain all of the certifications applicable to the nursing units to which they have been trained. AWHONN’s Advanced Fetal Monitoring course is only required if labor trained and caring for pregnant patients. NRP (AAP Neonatal Resuscitation Program) is only required if labor trained and caring for pregnant patients. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Frequent standing, walking, lifting, reaching, kneeling, bending, stooping, pushing and pulling. Manual dexterity, light physical effort, ability to lift/carry up to 30 lbs. (supplies and equipment). Manual dexterity of hands and feet to ambulate 8 to 12 hours per shift and adroitly manage multiple pieces of equipment/tubes/invasive lines. Physical strength to perform CPR (bed/floor), lift and push/pull 60 to 300 pounds (with assistance) as often as 20 times per 8 to 12 hours and perform constant walking, twisting, turning, and stretching maneuvers in patient care and use of equipment. Keen mental faculties to perform assessment and decision-making skills in the management of acutely ill patients. Good reading eyesight. Is able to see clearly 20 feet or more, to judge distance and space relationships, and to see peripherally. Visual acuity to observe patient assessment data and use manual/automated documentation tools. Emotional stability: Conducive to dealing with a high stress level for 8 to 12 hours at a time associated with caring for acute patients/families, fast-paced physical activity, rapidly changing patient conditions, emotional demands of patients and their families, and demands of maintaining effective working relationships with peers, managers, physicians, and other health care workers. Ability to communicate using verbal and/or written skills for accurate exchange of information with physicians, nurses, health care professionals, patients and/or family, and the public. JOB SUMMARY Responsible to deliver direct and indirect nursing care to patients with ostomies, draining wounds, various types of fistulae, stomas, soft tissue injuries and other wound types and to supervise the day-to-day nursing activities performed by the nurses in relation to wound care, treatments, prevention, and assessments. Assist as necessary with the physician/consultant during wound care rounds. Arrange for diagnostic and therapeutic services needed for wound care as ordered by the physician. Obtain /assist in wound specimen collection as ordered by the physician. Update the family/responsible party and attending physician for any changes on wound assessment. Assist in developing a written plan of care for each customer that identifies the problems/needs of the customer and be able to evaluate the delivery of care. Attends and actively participate in customer care plan conference. Consult with other nurses, management, and other related health professionals to assist in assessing, planning, and delivering and evaluating patient care. Plan, conduct and participate in In-service Education Programs, workshops, seminars, conferences, and courses. Make written and oral reports including recommendations concerning the wound care program. Ensure that the wound assessment reflects that the care plan is being followed. Participate in the development, maintenance, and implementation of the facility’s Quality Assurance program for the Wound Care Program. Coordinate facility wound audits with the nursing staff. Make daily rounds to assure that nursing personnel are performing required duties related to the wound care program, and to assure that wound care protocols and procedures are being followed. Accurately interprets arrhythmia strips and request EKGs to clarify alterations in rhythm obtains on EKG in emergency situation. Demonstrates an ability to draw arterial blood gases from arterial lines, as requested. Communicates changes in patient's condition to family as needed and acts as a liaison between physician and family. Completes admission assessment (within 4 hours). Includes in assessment psychosocial, environmental, and physiological, environmental and physiological factors. assesses and documents need for patient/family education. Documents patient/family teaching of (ex. anticoagulation therapy, cardiac rehab-steps, TCDB) int eh nurses notes. Initiates a care plan individualized to the needs of each within 8 hours after admission implements same. Develops measurable goals that are mutually set with patient/family. Modifies nursing care plan as required by changing patient needs as determined by evaluation of care administered as established standards of care. Develops and documents discharge plan with physician, patient/family and other available resources. Accountable for carrying out nursing functions according to standards to nursing care, state and federal regulation and JC standards are outlined in current policies and procedures. Assess patients for skin integrity on admission and continuously throughout the patient's hospitalization.
