RN Clinical Nurse II - Ambulatory Surgery Center

Join the UNC Ambulatory Surgery Center PreOp/PACU team and provide high-quality perioperative care in a fast-paced, collaborative environment while maintaining an excellent work-life balance. The UNC Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) is a free-standing surgical facility, with 8 OR’s. Our department includes 9 Preop roomettes, 12 PACU bays, and 10 Short Stay Unit (SSU) Rooms. Our surgery center supports the following services: Orthopedics (Sports), ENT/OHN, plastics, general laparoscopic, general oncology, pediatric urology, urology and dental. BLS required, ACLS and PALS preferred. Previous PreOp or PACU experience is preferred but is not required. Nurses with at least one year of clinical nursing experience, particularly in PACU, PreOp, ICU, Emergency Department, critical care, or other applicable acute-care settings, are encouraged to apply. Schedule & Work-Life Balance This is a full-time, Monday–Friday position with no nights, weekends, holidays, or call. We are currently recruiting for the following 8-hour schedules: 6:00 AM–2:30 PM – Primary assignment in PreOp (5 8-hour shifts per week) 8:00 AM–6:30 PM – Primary assignment in PACU (4 10-hour shifts per week) 8:30 AM–5:00 PM – Primary assignment in PACU (5 8-hour shifts per week) The schedule accepted at hire will determine the nurse's primary clinical area. All teammates are cross-trained to both PreOp and PACU, providing the opportunity to develop skills across the perioperative continuum and support patient flow throughout the Ambulatory Surgery Center. Opportunities to transition to a 10-hour schedule may become available in the future based on unit needs and schedule availability.
