Job Summary and Qualifications The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and other members of the care team, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.” The RN serves as an advocate for patients/families/caregivers and models a commitment to the organization’s vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance. Assesses patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management, including reassessments after appropriate intervention. Performs procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Documents the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner. Performs exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests. Strives to anticipate patient needs and resolve them proactively. Teaches patients/families/caregivers about patient medical condition, patient status, treatment plan, medications and possible side effects, and follow-up measures. Translates complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding. Teaches patients/families/caregivers about any non-medicinal follow-up measures, such as healthy diet and exercise, disease prevention, and/or other lifestyle changes. During the course of the 32-week period, the employee is required to work two (2) holiday shifts (defined by Department Manager or designee), if holidays fall during their temporary assignment period. Duties include health management for a DOD beneficiary patient population with responsibility for the independent examination, diagnosis, and treatment within personal credentials and privileges delineated by the Military Treatment Facility (MTF). The Nurse Practitioner provides comprehensive primary care services and auxiliary practices in general medicine to the military and their family members. MAJOR DUTIES 1. The incumbent performs varied duties requiring many different and unrelated processes and methods applied to a broad range of general medicine in the adult and geriatric patients in specialty areas. The Nurse Practitioner makes independent decisions regarding the medical care required and in the interpretation and evaluation of processes resulting from continuing changes in the medical field due to new technological developments or conflicting requirements. The Nurse Practitioner performs a variety of complex duties involving the full range of medical care that consists of isolating and defining unknown medical conditions. Assignments include a wide range of activities including assessing, planning, evaluating and modifying the treatment of patients in various locations throughout the MTF. Duties are typical of, but not limited to, the following: a. Secures health and medical history from the patients or family member, record findings and makes a clinical evaluation.
