What you can expect Location: 2301 Erwin Rd. Durham, NC 27705 The General Pediatrics Unit is an 8-bed acute care unit that is projected to expand to 16 beds in January 2027. The unit provides care for a diverse pediatric population with a wide range of general medical and surgical needs. Most patients on this unit will have an anticipated length of stay of three days or less. RNs will care for an assignment of 3-4 patients with support from a charge nurse and nursing care assistant. Schedule: Full Time: 3, 12 hour shifts. 7 a.m./7 p.m., Day/Night rotating. 36 hours per week. What you will need Graduation from an accredited Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (or higher) OR Associate's Degree in Nursing OR Nursing Diploma program. All registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) will be required to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date and to complete the program within five years of their start date. Current registration with North Carolina State Board of Nursing as a registered professional nurse OR current compact RN licensure to practice in the state of North Carolina required. Utilizes aseptic surgical techniques in the preparation of materials, supplies and equipment for surgical procedures (e.g., assistance with gowning and gloving; preparation and draping of the surgical area; provision of a sterile field, instruments, suture and related materials; anticipation of the Surgeons' needs; passing of instruments and/or supplies; holding of retractors, observing and reporting possible breaks in aseptic technique; and assisting in maintaining a sterile, dry, unobstructed field). Performs all types of procedures and maintains basic knowledge of a variety of procedures. Ensures the environmental disinfection, safety and efficiency of the operating room. This includes setting up the room for each case including moving equipment (i.e., tables, cameras, microscopes, fracture table, and instrument pans), operating the various types of equipment used during operating room procedures, and returning equipment post procedure. Functions as a Second Assistant as necessary. Notifies appropriate staff of equipment and supply problems. Transports patients and/or equipment and supplies.
