Responsibilities Functions as part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering family-centered care across Women’s Services units, including Labor & Delivery, Family Birth Centers, and Newborn Nurseries. Assists at the surgical field, passing instruments and supplies to other members of the surgical team. Participates in the preparation and setup of surgical suites, maintaining sterile technique while managing instruments and supplies for various procedures. Provides basic patient care and unit support under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). Performs a broad range of essential tasks that support safe and efficient patient care, but do not require RN-level licensure or skills. Qualifications Experience: 1 year Surgical Technologist experience preferred. Women’s Services experience preferred. Education: Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technologist program or completion of a military training program for surgical technologists. OR High school diploma or equivalent, and As of January 1, 2017, in lieu of the formal Surg Tech training program requirement, may substitute professional experience if candidate has worked 2 out of last 3 years as Surgical Technologist. Skills: Basic level patient care skills per requirements of the position. Basic medical terminology. Keyboard skills and ability to navigate electronic systems applicable to job functions. Administer IV fluids, provided completion of annual competency IV therapy training.
