The Clinical Nurse Outpatient is a key member of the UT MD Anderson, Lyndon B. Johnson Oncology Program. The primary purpose of the Clinical Nurse Outpatient is to provide individualized assistance to Medical Oncology patients, families, and caregivers in the coordination and communication of the patient's plan of care. The Clinical Nurse Outpatient collaborates with physicians, referring providers, and interdisciplinary teams to support continuity of care, patient education, and symptom management. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), at least two years of oncology nursing experience. Medical Oncology and Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification is preferred. Inspects and maintains dialysis machines and equipment. Cath Lab RN: Pre-Procedure: Reviews medical history, assesses patient's overall health, and prepares them for the procedure. Intravenous (IV) Line Initiation: Starts and maintains an IV line for medication administration. Administers medications as prescribed by the physician. Educates patients and families about the procedure and what to expect. Verifies that surgical consents have been signed. During the Procedure: Assists the Cardiologist during the catheterization process. Closely monitors the patient's vital signs, hemodynamic data, and sedation levels.
