Responsibilities The Clinical Nursing Supervisor supports administrative responsibility for the department service functions and works collaboratively with the unit Director and/or Manager. In the absence of the unit Director and/or Manager, the Clinical Supervisor may assume the administrative scope of the unit assigned. Develops and implements departmental plans, including performance improvement activities and compliance with current federal and/or state regulations. The Clinical Supervisor prepares, conducts and/or oversees department(s) orientation and training of personnel. Communicates with staff, physicians, and administration both written and verbally. The Clinical Supervisor is responsibility and accountable for the quality of staff and functions during their shift. Assists the Department Director in the daily operations of the unit, directing, supervising, and evaluating personnel, ensuring the proper use of time, equipment and staff. Ensure the efficient functions of the department. Performs direct patient care, only as needed, within the scope of practice. Continually assess care and direct staff to make immediate changes in the plan of care. Qualifications EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING Current and valid state Registered Nurse license. Bachelor Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred. Current Basic Life Support certificate (BLS) upon hire and maintain current. Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) upon hire and maintain current. Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience, with 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role preferred. FACILITY / UNIT TRAINING Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certificate preferred for Intensive Care. Non-OB Facilities – NRP Required 90 days after hire and maintained. Overview Department: Telemetry Shift’s Available: Days Employment Type: Full-Time Hours: 7:00am-7:00pm (12-hour shifts) Location: Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, KS We are seeking a Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN), sometimes referred to as a Telemetry RN or Tele RN. A Tele RN specializing in attending to patients within our telemetry units,including those needing cardiac monitoring. The Tele RN will monitor and interpret our patient's vital signs, such as heart rate, heart rhythm, respiratory rate, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation level. Continuous monitoring of patients, by the Telemetry RN enables gathering real-time data to make informed decisions regarding patient care, ensuring early detection of abnormalities or changes in the patient's condition. Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to): Recognizes signs of abuse and reports appropriately to the hospital social worker and/or Adult / Child Protective Services. Familiar with the EMTALA Regulations. Responsible for the observation and direction of patient lifts, mobilization, and shall participate as needed in patient handling. Attends and maintains mandatory training in safe patient handling, trained in safe lifting techniques, includes but not limited to 1) Appropriate use of lifting devices and equipment, 2) Five areas of body exposure: vertical, lateral, bariatric repositioning and ambulation, 3) Use of lifting devices to handle patients safely. Uses professional judgment and clinical assessment in safe patient handling that are consistent with Safe Patient Handling policies. Uses two patient identifiers consistently when drawing lab, administering medications and performing procedures. Follows medication reconciliation policy consistently. Does not use unacceptable abbreviations in documentation (uses read back on all telephone orders.) Monitors authentication and validation of telephone orders within 24 hours by the physician. Ensures consistently that all clinical alarms, i.e. cardiac monitors are set with the appropriate parameters for the patient and are audible at all times. Qualifications Education and Work Experience Current and valid state RN License. Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current. Basic Arrythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire. Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current. Previous Acute Care hospital experience preferred. Ventilator Management experience preferred.
