HOURLY RANGE: $19.89 - $26.23 DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: The work involves performing routine and semi-skilled tasks in the overall care of the physically ill, physically disabled and mentally incapacitated residents and patients at the Long-Term Care Facility of the Erie County Medical Center Corporation. The activities performed support the daily functions and operations of an assigned unit or area. Work is performed under the direct supervision of professional or para-professional nursing staff in accordance with the policies and regulations of local, State and Federal authorities as well as accepted standards of practice. JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY The hospice aide works under the supervision of a registered nurse and performs various tasks as assigned in accordance with the patient’s plan of care to meet the patient's personal needs and to promote comfort. The hospice aide is responsible for reporting and documenting observations and care performed. The hospice aide will be assigned in a manner that promotes quality, continuity and safety of a patient's care. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES Responsibilities of the hospice aide include, but are not limited to, the following: 1. Performing personal care needs after given a patient's assignment and attending to his/her requests promptly. If unable to perform a certain task, report to the Case Manager immediately. 2. Reporting any complaint of pain or other symptoms or changes in the patient's condition to the RN Case Manager. Also aware of the caregiver or other individuals living with the patient and interpersonal issues. 9. Assisting in ambulation and exercise as instructed by the hospice nurse or therapist. 10. Provide normal range of motion and transfers/positioning as directed. 11. Assistance with self-administered medications as allowed by state regulations, such as “reminders.” 12. Offering and assisting with bedpans and urinals. Providing assistance as assigned with light laundry needs, emptying waste baskets and other light homemaker tasks. 13. Performing range of motion and other simple procedures as ordered with appropriate completed/demonstrated skills competency. 14. Providing respite for patient's/family/caregiver when on-site, as appropriate. 15. Keeping patient's living area clean and orderly, as assigned. 16. Adhering to the organization's documentation and care procedures and standards of personal and professional conduct. 17. Participates in quality assessment performance improvement teams and activities. 18. Respectful of patient and family/caregiver environment and patient's personal needs. 19. As a mandatory reporter, reports failure to comply with the requirements of chapters 246- 335 WAC and 70.127 RCW to the Washington Dept. of Health as required within 14 calendar days, using Dept. of Health forms. 20. Reports suspected abandonment, abuse, financial exploitation, or neglect of a person in violation of RCW 74.34.020 or 26.44.030 to the department of social and health services and the proper law enforcement agency. Job Summary The Technical Partner provides direct and indirect patient care under the direction of the RN or LPN. Essential Job Functions Deliver direct and indirect patient care in accordance with hospital policies, procedures, protocols and standards of care. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge. Completion of an approved medical assistant training program as defined by state regulations. Active Medical Assistant Certification is required. Certification or additional training must meet the requirements for Meaningful use. BLS certification required. Active Medical Assistant certification such as: Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) with proof of current membership from American Medical Technologists (AMT) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) with proof of current membership from American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) with proof of current membership from National Health Career Association (NHA) (Test administered after 7/1/2017 only) or National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) with proof of current membership from National Certified Competency Testing (NCCT). Requires strong computer skills, including the ability to work with medical software. Requires exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. Requires the ability to manage multiple changing priorities in an effective and organized fashion. Employees working at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital, BTMC Behavioral, and BUMG, BUMCT, or BUMCS in a Behavioral Health clinical setting that serves children must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment. An Arizona Criminal History Affidavit must be signed upon hire. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience with office medical procedures and treatments and knowledge of insurance, managed care operations, EMR and scheduling software preferred.
