Outpatient clinic setting Consistent daytime schedule Opportunity to work directly with patients and clinical team members What You'll Do In this role, you'll help keep the clinic running smoothly while providing hands-on support to patients and the care team. Patient & Clinical Support Welcome patients and assist throughout their clinic visit. Measure and document vital signs and communicate abnormal findings to nursing staff or providers. Assist with scheduling new and follow-up appointments. Help ensure patients have a smooth arrival and check-out experience. Recognize urgent or emergency situations and respond according to established procedures. Prepare, clean, disinfect and maintain clinic equipment and exam rooms. Stock exam rooms and maintain necessary clinical supplies and linens. Collect, prepare and secure laboratory specimens for testing or transport, as needed. Documentation & Coordination Accurately document information in the patient's electronic medical record (EMR). Access laboratory and radiology results and outside medical records. Update patient demographic information and coordinate follow-up appointments. Assist with obtaining and organizing clinical documentation for provider review. Request medical records from outside facilities and scan appropriate documentation into the EMR. Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA requirements. Clinic & Team Support Provide professional, courteous and compassionate service to patients, caregivers and team members. Communicate clinic needs, concerns and activities to leadership. Assist with telephone calls and route inquiries to the appropriate team member. Follow established safety and infection-prevention practices. Participate in quality and safety initiatives that support excellent patient care. What We're Looking For Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma/GED or equivalent OR 2 years of work experience. Certification Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association. Knowledge & Skills Familiarity with general medical terminology. Ability to maintain accurate patient records and confidential information. Basic computer and data-entry skills, including Microsoft Office. Strong organizational and multitasking skills. Ability to prioritize responsibilities and work independently. Excellent communication and customer-service skills. GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The Nursing Technician PPOP PACU works under the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN), preforming a variety of tasks delegated by the RN in order to care for patients. The Nursing Technician completes assigned tasks and reports information about patients to the RN. The Nursing Technician assists with obtaining vitals, and other taught skills as trained by OrthoIndy. Essential Duties: Obtains and reports vital signs and fluid intake and output. Discontinues IV lines and urinary catheters as directed by the Registered Nurse and documents removal. Observes and reports patient conditions and behaviors to the Registered Nurse. Assists in the cleaning of equipment, furniture, and surfaces using appropriate aseptic technique and returns equipment to appropriate areas as needed. Restocks linens and supplies on the unit. Orders linen, café items for patient care. Performs phlebotomy as directed by the Registered Nurse. Performs Urine Pregnancy Tests, and blood sugars for patients as directed by Registered Nurses. Provides skin care as directed by the Registered Nurse. Reinforces patients and family education as directed by the Registered Nurse. Performs EKGs and bladder scans when directed by the Registered Nurse. Transports patients to other units, upon dismissal, and as necessary. Performs Cast Cutting, Ted Hose measurement and application. Requirements: High School Diploma or GED required; specialty training beyond high school preferred Valid Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license and 1-2 years of direct patient care experience required, OR Nursing student with one semester of completed clinical rotations required, OR a minimum of 1-2 years direct patient care experience within a hospital setting with ability to earn CNA education and certification within six months of start date.
